Healers expect preferential treatment in LFDs?

Just wondering if this phenomenon is widespread or simply a few isolated cases...
LFD. Everyone has a gearscore of 5000+, so we're cruising along. The healer types "Kings please." The ret Pally isn't paying attention, so the healer asks again. Then, 30 seconds later, the healer: "Still no Kings..."
I'm getting annoyed, so I tell the healer to just drop it. The Pally is flakey, but it's not like we need the buff. Let's just focus on the run.
The healer says that I shouldn't talk like that to the healer, "or else end up with a repair bill." I say a couple unpleasant words and stop getting healed for the rest of the instance (H UP). I just bandaged myself and popped energized regen and drank health pots.
So... healers, do you expect preferential treatment? Do you think you're special?

One thing I hate about healing is it's harder to get idiots killed. I like tanking because of that.
But no, that healer (and pally) was just a tool. Move on.

It's not requesting preferential treatment to ask that a player provide the basic buffs available from their class.
That doesn't necessarily mean the healer is innocent - he could have just dropped group if he was dissatisfied, and gotten into another one quickly. But then, the Paladin wasn't without blame; nor were you, by your own admission.

Or letting someone who thinks Gearscore means anything die.

Ba-dum-CHING! :)
Off-topic, but I got rid of Gearscore entirely the other day, after it turned out that it was to blame for the horrible lag and 1 frame per second I was experiencing in Dalaran after the last patch. I used WoW-heroes.com to review people's gear even when I used Gearscore, so it was sort of a wasted step.

I'm a warrior, so I can't give Kings. And I'd rather just tell bickering LFD puggers to stfu and get a run done than waste time moderating their argument.
My issue is when I stopped getting heals because I dared to call out the healer for being a pest. Sure, Kings would make over-geared players even more productive. But, if you refuse to heal the tank, how productive is that?

I understand you couldn't resolve the problem yourself, by providing the buff. But instead of telling the healer to "stfu", why not say something to the Paladin, who isn't doing (part) of his job?
The healer should have dropped group, rather than not healing you; that was a jerk move. That doesn't mean the healer was asking for preferential treatment by asking for a basic buff.
Actually, the 30 min buff for BoK does have a mat cost....just throwing it out there lol.
The basic one lasts 10 minutes and has no mat cost. I generally use that in LFDs, unless I have two of a class in the run.

Well... you called him some bad name I believe is what you said in your statement. No special treatment at all in your story... just you called someone who WAS keeping you alive a bad name. Bad idea...

Personally as a healer I tend to shut up and do what I'm told. Most groups don't need me and I'm far and away the least useful person there. Whining about a buff is just stupid. You shouldn't have throughput or longevity problems, and buffing your base stats by 10% will change the terrible, terrible DPS you can do while bored by all of 4%. The only reason I can think of why someone would insist on that sort of thing is if they like the pretty picture of a helmet.
The exception is HHoR. There's a shortage of competent healers and I'm damn good at it. But even then I only expect people to listen to me because I'm going to get them through it with a minimum of fuss, not some sort of mystical super-duper healing authority.

well...I like to think that it's not wide-spread, but in this case just a couple of jerks met each other (for whatever reason...too many dungeons done already in the day? Bad day at work? Raid got cancelled, again?) and you butted head.
Not healing you anymore...that is quite a feat though. I sometimes think it (grrr, you know what, you figure it out on your own), but as I just heal bars, not persons, I keep healing in the end...=)

They get drunk off the power of having 4 lives in their hands. Its like if we were able to gank out own faction. "Kings or I kill you"
I'd be sober if DPS would stop charging bosses before the tank and get insta-gibbed.
"Why didn't you heal me?"
"I can't heal stupid, sorry."

The comment above sort of illustrates the phenomenon: the sense of entitlement exhibited by some healers.
The druid threatened "no heals for Pally until I get Kings." I objected to that threat and let my opinion be known. Yeah, I've got a prickly attitude. I'm not looking to start a fight, but I'll jump into one. I'm certainly not afraid to do so because the offender is a healer. It turns I didn't even need heals, since I got none after from Gortok onwards.
