Well, that's not that bad news, if it's true.
I love my good 'ol Azeroth.

So i heard a terrifying rumor from my brother whos a manager at EB games, from his friend at his store who heard from his Big boss area manager, who supposedly read something posted by a Blizzard employee.......that Cataclysm isn't being released until next year.
Explain what part of this is 'terrifying'.

Second, Cataclysm is, after all, an expansion. Therefore it can be expected that a very high percentage of players will purchase it. It therefore is not logical to launch it at a time it will compete against both Blizzard's own products and those of other companies as potential Winter Solstice gifts. This is especially true since Starcraft II is about to come out and even after the initial Day 1 purchases go out, sales will remain high for quite some time, and it can be expected to be a popular Winter gift - that would compete directly with Cataclysm if it shipped at that time.
Third, if Cataclysm shipped for Winter Solstice or shortly before, Blizzard itself would have serious HR issues managing what is sure to be a buggy product release that will require enormous administrative attention and bug-fixing, and this process will continue for months after the expansion first hits. This is true not because of any fundamental shortcomings on their end but because of the nature of the thing; it is big, complex, and unforeseeable problems will inevitably arise and need to be corrected in short order. Their employees are humans too and will have their own holiday commitments.
Therefore, it is logical to launch the product in February or so.
Wrath of the Lich King was released in late November. Places where I live were sold out in two days. Were you there for release day of the game? Servers were beyond packed. November 2010 is my guess, because it's so close to Christmas, and unless Diablo's being released a lot sooner than I thought, there's nothing for WoW to compete against, because I expect Starcraft 2 sales to remain high for about 2 months, maybe 2 and a half. By that time, it will have gone down to a normal, steady number of sales, and, of course, they're 2 different beasts altogether.Additionally, releasing it in November will give Blizzard ample opportunity to fix any major bugs before the holiday season.

I still don't get why it's 'terrifying'. Disappointing? Sure, I'll buy that. Frustrating? Okay, you've been waiting for it for a while, that's understandable. Infuriating? Hey, we've all had our nerd rage moments. But terrifying? Are you actually sitting in front of your computer, consumed by terror, at the prospect of having to wait longer for an expansion pack?

Sometimes I can't sleep at night because I can't play my Goblin.

Figure of speech pal, learn not to take everything you read on the forums literally.
Explain how it is a figure of speech. I honestly don't understand how that term would apply.

Ive pre ordered mine with Amazon. Amazon are pretty good at keeping you up to date. The game has already been reduced in price and it is showing 3 September as the release date. I usually get an email if the release date has been pushed back and as of now I havent received such email.
I've had SC2 pre-ordered with Amazon for over a year, and the original release date they gave me was October 2009, so I wouldn't put too much faith in them.

Learn to use language properly. "Using the wrong word" =! "Figure of speech".

Alot of people might consider said rumor to be shocking, or scared to even consider that it might be a possibility. The phrase "terrifying" is therefore used as a figure of speech, and not to be taken literraly.
Don't try and call me on this buddy, if my use of wording doesn't suit your palet then you can sod off. What you
honestly
don't understand is that the term "terrifying" was supposed to be taken light heartedly.
So you word your sentences cryptically, then throw a fit when asked for clarification? You must be a real joy to hang out with. By the way, inflection doesn't carry in typewritten messages.
