1: Thorns isn´t that attractive if the damage is that low with such high mana cost - from Balance POW we are less "needed" to cast it also as feral can cast it as well.
2. Starfire down 10% casttime - nice!
3. MF up 50%? Will be interesting to see how that plays out with Lunar shower
4. Moonfury affects Starsurge? Nice but might be nerfed.
Going to be fun logging on tonight (or how long they will extend the maintenance)
Always saw Thorns almost as a miniature misdirect to be honest. Found it to be a huge help to tanks who are dealing with the retarded scaling speed of vengeance...
Not sure if the cast speed on Starfire really needed to be dropped considering the fairly commanding amount of dps output we can throw around currently, but I'll take it in prep for what I will say about Starsurge.
Moonfire getting the buff was definitely needed but i'm hoping they fix the failure for it to benefit from haste properly.
Starsurge without being affected by moonfury would eventually have been less and less beneficial to be used on CD and as we gained crit on gear we'd eventually run into rules about when to and when NOT to use the spell int he rotation. They don't want things to be that complicated all told so the simply buffed it. If it is indeed to powerful as a result is is far easier to scale back the damage on the spell itself rather then return things they way they were.
Edit: If this makes no sense casually ignore me until I get some sleep before coming back and kicking myself for posting with out it :P

I would assume that in terms of its use for a feral, it's going to be something you would want to have coming IN while tanking from the non-tanking druids ... and especially when vengeance is fully stacked. Mini-misdirect indeed ... except this threat isn't temporary.

The ferals can waste 2 GCDs and put it up on their tanks. It's worth it in terms of raid benefit, IMO.

Necroing this thread to announce some feral kitty changes:
Feral
Rip now scales from 18/37/55/74/92% of Attack Power depending on combo points, up from 8/16/24/32/40%.
Ferocious Bite now scales from 10.9/21.8/32.7/43.6/54.5% of Attack Power depending on combo points, up from 7/14/21/28/35%.
Rake now causes scales from 2% of Attack Power for bleed damage, up from 1%. Now scales from 42% of AP for additional bleed damage over 9 sec, up from 18% of AP.
Mangle additional damage has been increased from 726 to 1136.
Vengeance - Entering Cat Form will cancel this effect.
More fixing done to kitty DPS.
/sad about Vengeance change, but we could have seen that one coming. Guess that's our Festergut DPS out of the window xD

So in the newest beta build, Stampede gives us 30% melee haste after a Feral Charge, and only has 1 rank. I think it is worth taking now. I would suggest removing 1 point from Endless Carnage, since we spam Pulver as a filler anyway. (actually, Pulver might fall off when you have to run off from the boss for some reason... but! Thats when Stampede will make up for it with the haste buff)

I concur! I was still considering FA, but stampede + 1/2 Endless Carnage far outweigh the minor inconvenience.

Balance
Soothe now has a 1.5 sec cast time, up from Instant.
Feral
Thrash (Bear) now deals 15% of AP + 243 damage, down from 19% of AP + 304 damage. Bleed effect reduced from 3% of AP + 189 to 3% of AP + 152.
Swipe now deals 171 base damage, down from 214.
Brutal Impact now causes victims of Skull Bash to have a 5/10% increased mana cost on their spells, down from 15/30%.
Stampede now increase melee haste by 30%, up from 15%. Causes Feral Charge (Cat) to cost 100% less energy, down from 50%.
Restoration
Rebirth now has a 10 min cooldown, down from 30 min.
Swift Rejuvenation is now a 1-Rank talent, down from 2 Ranks. Now reduces the GCD of Rejuvenation by 0.5 sec.
Efflorescence now heals nearby targets for 20/40/60% of the amount healed by Swiftmend over 7 sec, down from 7.5 sec.
Natural Shapeshifter now also increases the duration of Tree of Life by 5/10 sec.
Rebirth back to 10 min cd <3

Savage Defense is massively overpowered on beta and has been dealt with accordingly. Many of the reports of beta raid bosses two-shotting tanks were because that was how much damage the bosses needed to do in order to challenge Feral tanks. With less damage absorbed, the boss damage can be adjusted downwards. We've reduced the multiplier for attack power on the absorption effect (from 65% to 35%, still modified by mastery) and it no longer procs from periodic critical hits.
Heh heh heh :] Something about the "in order to challenge feral tanks" makes me smile xD
