You are extraordinarilly narrow-minded if you think a PvP server is PvP-only and a PvE server is PvE-only. You are narrow minded and cannot simply accept it, but people here do NOT even consider a level 80 player facing a level 15 player as PvP at all. On the PvP/PvE server thing, there's a reason why people can flag themselves for pvp even on pve servers. PvP servers don't mean people wear a "KILL ME NOW" sign on their backs. Likewise, PvE servers do not mean people say "THIS GAME ONLY HAS MY FACTION, SCREW YOURS".

Not really, since this thread was about server selection and not the pros and cons of ganking- its the people who replied who made it about that. gotcha the OP had nothing in it about ganking

Yes, finishing up my achieves and while I was there I went on a pretty simple I see red I kill red- however I did not go to redridge with the sole intent of ganking lowbies thus invalidating this idea that somehow this is my passion. O.o so it took you hours to explore redridge? better yet, it took you more than 10 minutes?

I have responded to all points, as I said I believe that people who enjoy fair pvp would be happier on a pve server since a pve can provide all they want besides the STV examples previously mentioned.

So. I am a player who loves PvP, but dislikes lvl80 ganking. I'm forced to be removed from ANY KIND of world pvp by those standards? (As any battle would likelly mean people would simply unflag themselves, resulting in hardly more than a one-time engagement) That means there's not a server type for me. PvE servers have close to no world pvp activity, and PvP servers have lvl80 gankers. Shall I go to role playing server then?
Enjoy killing lower level characters? Go to Northrend. You still have abusive advantage over them, but they actually stand some kind of chance of bringing you down, especially if they team up.

I meant PvE server players (theoretically, we have to exclude any sort of "I joined this server because my friends did" because the argument is moot around such motives) don't wan't to PvP as a main focus. Also, I can't count the times you said "Only 1 good answer till now". So, I'm very sorry, but you discarded all our points. That's not discussing.
The concept you seem to have difficulty going through is that there is a very distinct difference between a lvl 80 gank and a regular gank. The extreme ineptitude to have any type of response (EVEN if they called a main, you could still pretty much one shot the low level players) doesn't make it Player versus Player, according to almost all posters up until now.

No.
When a lvl80 pvpgeared toon takes on a lvl70-80 levelling geared toon its not a fair fight and imo its pretty much the same.
It just looks better on paper. Its a question of HP pool and in my case heals, when my hots tick for 3k and I have 28k hp unbuffed I dont see anyone who is not well geared taking me down, its just simple mathematics.

I would agree with this in theory however in practise I dont see the difference in terms of end game organized pvp between PvE and PvP servers. Its still battlegroup focus so I would argue that if one wanted organized pvp yet questing in peace etc. then a pve server would be a better fit.

Oh, but said mathematical numbers actually favor my point. Not HP pools, one single stat:
Hit %.
It is based on level. It is close-to-impossible for anyone to beat a player much higher-levelled simply because of this little thing. But being a level 78 ganked by a level 80, you can instantly Blind, Fear, Slow, Snare, Trap, Root or any similar action that restrains your opponent. Also, your array of spells is closer to complete. That's why 3-4 level 78s with some degree of skill can actually give a fight to a level 80 player, and based on class, they can actually make a series of crowd controls that make it completelly impossible for the level 80 to actually respond. A warrior with a frost mage on him will have trouble, believe me! But if the frost mage is level 60 and can't even hit with his spells, GG mage.
Endgame PvE/PvP comparison is not as relevant. Most 80s are far too occupied; the only possiblity of world pvp is typically daily quest zones. Therefore, the players hanging around are high-leveled, and likelly can defend themselves to a degree. You can still find a fight where you can't possibly win, but you won't find a fight where there's not a single thing you can do. And I believe this topic revolves around low-level areas PvP? Therefore, the end-game discussion's a bit off this topic.

I'll have to admit I will attack players lower than I if I came across one. It's just part of perks of rolling on a PVP server.
Camping someone who has no chance of defense on the other hand I do not encourage. Its just another form of bullying.
<nerdrage> :P Usually the perpetrator is someone who got bullied as a kid or is being bullied in their workplace as an adult. Your life is lacking in some aspect if you can honestly enjoy giving someone else a hard time on a game that SHOULD be a past time. Anyone ignorant enough to say "gtfo" if you can't handle the heat most likely is some young, narrow-minded prick who has no idea what it's like growing up/being part of a minority, whether it be racial, gender or some sort of disability. </nerdrage>
Sadly, most of the WoW population on the North American servers act and think like that. Rarely do you come across a stranger in game that you'll enjoy playing with.
