This is more of a WoW general post, but no. I take the names of aztec goddesses for my chars so I'm gtg. I only had that happen to my DK once on the armory. Female dwarf DK, only level 55. Hmmm odd seeing as that char never got leveled and mine was 80.

I thought I'd created the name "Morec" first, but now it seems that there are a few people with it - none of which I'm sure came before or after my character. But I used to get mad, not I feel like its an honor to have people thinking my name is go great that they copy it (at least, that's what I tell myself).

/shrug, No name is 'original' in all honesty; I know with some of my names; Kuriokaze, Makennshi, Maldoushi and a few others only have 1-3 other named like it.... but considering the source of some of the names, it's to be expected.

Not remotely. I become curious about how they came up with the name. I know that, when I came up with my name, I did so completely independently -- however, there is one other Sinespe in existence, and it is a Death Knight which was about level 57 when I coined it for my Priest, and which has levelled slowly up to 80 and is slowly acquiring gear. Unfortunately, the player's gem choices are far from desirable. One of these days, I should roll a level 1 toon on Blackhand just to ask that person how they came up with the name. Like I say -- they came up with it before I did, but I coined it without even knowing of their existence.

My druid's name is "Rekairn" a completely original name that I came up with. But I don't have to worry about people copying my name.

I feel a little annoyed. I thought I was the only one called "Umega" in the whole of WoW, and yet theres 5 other Umegas...and that's only on the EU servers. :(
I've made other characters with proper names and come across other names that look very similar to mine.

I tought the name of my DK was unique (Derah) given that I took it from a spanish forum for downloading manga and anime ("elrincondelmanga.com")
so I figured, "these bunch of gringos would never visit a spanish forum" and so I named my DK like that, and to my surprise, there's like 30 Derah's on other servers......... go figure.....
the name of my shaman was invented by myself, and I'm proud to say that NOBODY has it, I'm the only one in the entire armory.
Shakduhn.
However, I had a grand Idea after this :P and the name of all my alts are taken from the back lore of The Elder Scrolls, and the expanded universe of Star Wars (by expanded universe I mean everything BUT the movies, only from the books, comics, games, and novels)

It's a little pretentious to think that you're the only person who came up with that name, and everyone else in the world (of warcraft) copied you.
Maybe that name wasn't quite as original as you thought?

Only once, My Death Knight (rolled at launch) had the name Preposterone. During a hiatus, my account was compromised and they server transferred him. When I come back 4 or 5 months later and get everything straightened out, I find out I have to rename my DK because some low-level Paladin took my name >.<
