ok?
I'm as confused as you are. And I don't think I want an explanation.

I wonder if they will put a movement restriction on this like Death Grip. All i can think about is how much fun im going to have jumping off a cliff, with levitate and grabbing your friend : )
Edit: HOLY CRAP. Warrior Spell reflect + Leap = what? Holystep for friendly targets?
:D
Edit2: Scratch that, Spell reflect doesnt Apply to helpfull spells right? Gutted, That would have been fun : )

Malentra: You're mostly right, but I'd take mirror images off that list. I pop it every boss pull and basically on cooldown thereafter. It allows a mage to dps while the tank is telling DPS to hold off during initial threat generation and it adds a small amount of DPS. If the situation surrounding tank vs. DPS threat were the same in WotLK as it were in BC, you'd think differently about Invisibility, and strangely enough, I've seen blue posts mentioning wanting to go back to those threat mechanics.
Anyway, I'm rambling- long story short, this
is
too situational for being the only lv85 spell addition we know of at this time.
I think I agree with Uncleeggman. I'll toss the DPS a PW:S (and I think I read something about a PW:Barrier, group shield), and if they can't move from the environmental damage by the time that gets eaten through, I'm writing them off as a loss. Learn the encounters; key your mic before the pull and ensure everyone knows what to run away from. I won't take my focus off of healing every time a positional raid damage element shows up to determine whether the hunter is afk-autoshotting or not.
A threat-reducing portion of this would be fun, but again, situational. When's the last time I Salv'd somebody on my pally? Uhhh.......... exactly.

You guys really need to stop assuming that every "Bad stuff" mechanic in Cataclysm will be something that the people affected by it are
capable
of moving out of without the use of a special ability like Hand of Freedom or Life Grip. Again, Paralytic Toxin, Putricide Oozes, pre-nerf Sindragosa Phase 3 breaths. We already have mechanics in Wrath in which Life Grip would be one more iron in the fire to deal with them. Life Grip existing will enable Blizzard to come up with even more ways for it to be useful outside of the straw man of "Avoidable AoE" on which people in this thread seem to think they're going to be wasting Life Grip.

^^ Couldn't agree more.
I don't like reading stuff like...
Everyone who is talking about how you can save people and this and that; how about they learn the encounter and not be subpar. As a discipline priest I can throw a shield at them and then its up to them. If they do not move then well thank you for being a scrub.
...while it does make a lot of sense from an elitist and theorical point of view, when it comes down to application in an actual raid fight, $%^& happens and despite anyone and everyone's awareness and ability not to stand in the fire and general knowledge of the fights, it still happens, even to the best of us. Sure, ideally, everyone would avoid death from "standing-in-the-fire", but this isn't always the case, Leap of Faith simply is another tool that allows us to save lives, which is (or should be...) our main role to begin with.
Also, someone mentionned it would only be logical for Leap of Faith to have some sort of threat reducing mechanic, we don't know for sure if that will be the case once this ability hits Live, if it ever does, but assuming it would, that ability could simply allow one of your top DPSers to DPS even more without having to worry about stealing aggro from the tanks... And I'm not talking about using it on a Hunter that forgets to FD on a regular basis, but using it on someone who'd manage to put out enough DPS to top the threat meter even while using all his threat dumping CDs.
If we follow that quote's logic, we shouldn't be using Pain Suppression on a tank if we assume that particular tank would not need it if he'd be using his defensive CDs appropriately, hence, if he misuses one of his defensive CDs, he's subpar and we should penalize the entire raid by letting him die, rather than pressing the single keybind that might save his life... I'd also assume your Druids never use BRes in-fight, since, obviously, someone who died during a fight is subpar and doesn't deserve to be resed...?
The point here is all healers have situational abilities they can live without, but that can be very helpful when used at the right time and I feel that anyone who deliberatly avoids using them based on the assumption that they would/should not be needed if other raid members were on top of their game is simply wrong, imho. Heck, why should a tank ever use Taunt? It's the DPS's fault for pulling aggro, the tank should let him deal with it... /shrug

The penalty would be minuscule compared to the benefit. It's 2 GCDs and 400 extra mana. Ever dropped Shadowform to pick up Healing slack? If not, you're not a real Shadow Priest.
