Thats really stretching it.
How about this:
Tauren Paladin: Bad lore
Forsaken Paladin: Good lore.
They are just going to make crap up with Tauren, while Forsaken have 6 years worth of actual people playing countless quests of redemption. They really screwed this opportunity up. Its like that had a super rare and delicious wine that has aged for over 100 years, and traded it for a *!@#'n pepsi.

Read this for Forsaken Paladins.
Otherwise, let me explain Tauren Paladins a little bit.
First off Yeah I read that crap and that is just what it is, crap. If they are getting their powers from another source then they aren't paladins in the sense of the word. That is like saying a warlock is a mage because they use similar abilities when in reality they just seem similar. Maybe it makes sense to some people but it really makes no sense to me. If they are drawing on the sun for their powers then they should not be called paladins, Blizzard should make an entirely new class for them (and in that case maybe a few more races to boot). Honestly it is the only thing that would make sense if they are to draw their power from the sun as that isn't where paladins abilities come from.
I still say it should have been undead that got to be paladins. I mean some of them probably were paladins and if the blood elves can fall and find a way to retain the power so can the undead.
1. PvP balance
2. Do you know how long it takes to create feasible and balanced spells for a new class all the way to 80? Not to mention it would be Tauren only, which would make other races clamoring for their own classes, thus introducing 10 (12 in Cata) new classes into the game. That's
A LOT
to create and balance.
3. Races I can see more of, but that makes creating more storyline/zones/animations/what-have-you/
4. Read link above on why there can be no Forsaken Paladins. And remember, this is from the lore-masters of Wowhead.
Now, Tauren Priests are simple enough to explain.
Human/Dwarf/Draenei/Blood Elf priests=the Holy Light.
Night Elf priests=Elune
Gnome priests=Church of Technology or whatnot. We're not sure yet.
Troll priests=Loa god magic.
Forsaken priests=Shadow Priests. Dark mending and whatnot.
Tauren Priests=Earth Mother's eye, the Sun (An'she.)
As we can see, all priests worship a divinity. The Light is the most popular, but the others still gain power from their respective God/Godess.
Paladins are the same
Human/Dwarf=the Light
Draenei=The Naaru
Blood Elf=Sucked from Naaru, now granted willingly.
Tauren=Power of the Earth Mother's eye An'she, the Sun.
THATS CALLED A
DRUID
.
To a druid, nature is a delicate balance of actions, in which even the smallest imbalance can create storming turmoil from peaceful skies. Now that would make your statement true, except for this:
Tahu Sagewind says
: The elves speak of a moon goddess, did you know? They put great stock in the light given by the moon.
Aponi Brightmane says
: Like Mu'sha.
Tahu Sagewind says
: Just like her. The parallels I've heard are interesting.
And it's no secret all druids, Shu'halo and elf alike, can call upon Mu'sha's light.
(Added bold.)
Tahu Sagewind says
: But we're nothing if not people who strive for balance. Our warriors fight only when there is need. Our hunters take only what the tribes require to live, and use all they can when they do. The shaman stand as guide and mediator to the elemental spirits.
Tahu Sagewind says
: And while we, as druids, are guardians of nature, I wonder if we've overlooked a key aspect of balance in all things.
Tahu Sagewind says: Still... there is balance in all things, even death. I simply hate the concept that such destruction and darkness might be necessary.
Aponi Brightmane says: There's a phrase... "It's always darkest before the dawn." The dawn will come, though, Tahu. the sun will rise. The balance will shift back to where it should be.
Aponi Brightmane smiles and gestures to the north.
Aponi Brightmane says: Even on the glacier itself, the sun manages to peek through the gloom. I have hope, Tahu. I think we'll make it through this, no matter how dire it looks.
So we see after all this is that Tauren Paladins worship the Sun yes... However the Sun is a part of a
Goddess
, thus giving Tauren Paladins, not the power of the Sun, but the power of a Goddess, which is what Paladins are all about. While Human Dwarf Paladins use Light, the Draenei and Blood Elves use power given by the Naaru, a race of energy beings. So why can't Tauren use the Light of Elune, the power of a
Goddess
, which is as powerful as the Light and the Naaru?
Great way of putting it. Funny thing is, warlocks
are
technically mages. Warlocks are mages who have decided to use fel magic, which is actually an arcanist, or arcane, magic.

Redemption =/= being able to use the Light.
And how is it stretching it? It would be stretching it way more for Forsaken, as they can't use the Light without getting burned/destroyed.

It really makes me wonder why is Blizzard so shy about implementing new classes that they have to take such a large s*** on Paladin lore to avoid doing so.
PvP balance. It's the reason the racial priest spells went away. R.I.P. extra nelf priest DoT. :(
It seems I really overlooked the obvious there :l
as they can't use the Light without getting burned/destroyed.
Holy Priests?
Do not exist in lore.
Neither do Tauren Paladins. Yet here we are.
Aye.
Ok let me explain this in simple terms (not trying to insult anyone, my explanations were pretty complicated.)
Tauren Paladins/Priests worship the Sun, An'she, Eye of the Earth Mother. They are using divine
light
magic, and the closest classes to that are Priest/Paladin because they don't want to make a new class for Tauren because everyone else will QQ for their own unique classes which then goes crazy with balance issues.

There are no Forsaken Paladins. Paladins are immune to the undead plague, and if they die and are rezzed they become Death Knights.
Well, except for Sir Zeliek as you said. He is the only dead paladin, and he's more priestlike.

It is the same principles behind being a jedi. All people in the star wars universe have the potential to become a jedi as all are tied to the "force". However only some people are taught because they show the apptitude to be able to control it. The same could be said of these Taurens that wish to become paladins.
therefore, not all the people in the star wars universe have the potential to become jedi. i don't expect you to get this. everyone is connected to and through the force, but not everyone can learn to control it in such ways as to become a jedi. you contradicted yourself.
hence, forsaken should be the new paladin class.
QED
No I didn't contradict myself. At worst I may have worded it improperly. Everyone is connected to the force and therfore has the potetial to become a jedi. However some people cannot manipulate the force no matter how they try like a jedi or sith can. It isn't a contradiction it is just an aptitude issue.
I never meant for Taurens alone to get their own class I just think that they should have thought this out better and if they were going to give powers based off sun worship they should have designed a new class that more races could use. Honestly I don't even know why I argue the point as this isn't the only glaring issue with lore in this game.
The same priciple applies to humans. At birth we have the ability to do or become anything. Through study and training some of us do exactly that however some people show no inclination to learn the same knowledge or abilities that allow me to do the job I do. This is what makes the difference.
What I am saying is that the potential is ther it just isn't cultivated in some people. This argument applies to Taurens being paladins as well. The ability to worship the same as the other races do to become a paladin is there but no one has ever shown them how. It just doesn't make any sense that if they want to be paladins they create a new path to it by finding a source that I will say shouldn't be able to give them their powers but for whatever reason is the direction Blizz wants to go. In reality it is more feasible to say they learned their power by studying under other paladins not by picking an object and saying hey I bet if I worship this I can be a paladin too.
Aye.
Ok let me explain this in simple terms (not trying to insult anyone, my explanations were pretty complicated.)

The question I have to ask is that you think non-Tauren paladins get their powers from a light source then? Because the word "light" doesn't refer to a actual souce of illumination as in the sun. It refers to an intangible system of belief that grants powers to them.
Not trying to argue your point just trying to clarify. If that is the case I still think it is a crap story that Bliz could have done better with as even before this people would often say how paladins were sun worshippers when this isn't the case. Unfortunately this only reinforces this in some peoples minds for all paladins not just Tauren.

I dont really care about Undead or Tauren Paladins
i dont pick races/classes based on lore
I just love my Nonchalant Belf
(on a side note, i cant stand how humans walk with their shoulders touching eachother, and it looks even worse with plate)
If I wanted to mindlessly smash things with no story I could go outside and bash my head into a rock. And im far from a roleplay server.

Great way of putting it. Funny thing is, warlocks
are
technically mages. Warlocks are mages who have decided to use fel magic, which is actually an arcanist, or arcane, magic.
Actually they
used
to be arcanists and or shamans. Quoted directly from wowiki :
Warlocks were once arcanists - or shamans in the case of the orcs - who, in pursuit of ever-greater sources of power, abandoned their studies of the arcane or nature and delved into darker, fel-based shadow magic. Warlocks still retain their skills in the manipulation of the chaotic element of fire, although their focus is on delivering excruciating pain and drawing out the suffering of their victims. No longer do they aim to use the effective application of arcane energies to efficiently dispose of their targets from a safe distance, instead warlocks revel in their victim's pain while their fel minions engage their target.
So calling them a mage i guess isn't entirely a stretch but they aren't a mage in the true sense of the word.

Yes, but if you look you can find that Arcane also has it's roots in the nether with Fel magic, as well as the fact that it in itself is corrupting. Then it leads to fel magic, which is a darker school of the arcane. So while they are mages in the true sense of the word, they are still arcanists.

Already noted, what I was trying to point out is that just as the Forsaken can't be Paladins because 'it's not possible' Tauren should not be Paladins because they don't exist. But because of mechanics they are getting them.
We're not saying they exist,
yet.
What you don't seem to understand is that this is not a retcon, it's an advancement in lore.

I just realized that we are as nerdy as Star Wars nerds, and I died a little bit on the inside.
The worm is the spice.
Oh it's true.... it's true.
