the 'shiny light in the sky that gives us super powers'. Tauren also worship the
Earth Mother
, a being consisting of Moon and Sun, whereas the Sun is most definitely the 'Light' Paladins and Priests worship.
Tell me exactly where does it state paladins worship the sun?
Link to meaning of light on wowwiki as it pertains to paladins.
The "light" as the word is used is a play on words if you will kinda like star wars. There is the light or good side and the dark or bad side. however neither one worships the sun nor the absence of one or the other. This idea that the "light" is holy and good stems more from human theology/psychology than actual worship of any light source such as the sun.

Definitely race changing to Tauren on my pally tank. Purely an aesthetic change. Just tired of being so bloody small and not even being able to see my toon when standing on one of the other tanks (3 taurens and 1 orc warrior).
Plus protos/mammoths look way better when being ridden by a Tauren.

Spauldervich, trying to tell us all that "the light" Paladins worship is the sun is lol to the max. You need to read some history and not just make things up. Light in this context isnt about lux.
Sun worship = Nature oriented worship. Production:
Druid
The Light worship = Selfless oriented in the name of redemption, hope, and heroes saving/defending those that have been sinned against through atrocities. Production:
Paladin
One sounds like it fits Forsaken (not Tuaren), the other does not. Cookie if you guess what one. (#) <- Its PB kind

Well, since Tauren have no ties to the 'Holy Light', other than participating as soldiers for the Argent Dawn and the like, and since they're a nature-dependent race; could perhaps Tauren paladins worship the Sun to wield Light-Given abilities through the power of nature? That sounds a bit like druid stuff, if you think about it.
No. Pure and simple. For druidic reasons sure but the sun holds no power for paladins. We are not sun worshipers.

Here is an explanation.
Sketchy, but it explains a bit.

Yeah I read that crap and that is just what it is, crap. If they are getting their powers from another source then they aren't paladins in the sense of the word. That is like saying a warlock is a mage because they use similar abilities when in reality they just seem similar. Maybe it makes sense to some people but it really makes no sense to me. If they are drawing on the sun for their powers then they should not be called paladins, Blizzard should make an entirely new class for them (and in that case maybe a few more races to boot). Honestly it is the only thing that would make sense if they are to draw their power from the sun as that isn't where paladins abilities come from.
I still say it should have been undead that got to be paladins. I mean some of them probably were paladins and if the blood elves can fall and find a way to retain the power so can the undead.

I'm not saying all paladins worship the sun, I'm saying that
Tauren
paladins and priests could.

Welcome to Wow; where Human priests worship the Holy Light, and where Troll priests worship Voodoo, all to the same effect in-game.
I think my main issue with this is that they wouldn't even have to make a new class for them as they could explain it another way. Say a blood elf paladin goes to TB one day and a few young Taurens say hey that guy has some awesome power, I wish I could have that power too. So the Blood Elf starts to instruct them in the ways of being a paladin. That is how they get their powers. Now that makes sense if you think about it.
It is the same principles behind being a jedi. All people in the star wars universe have the potential to become a jedi as all are tied to the "force". However only some people are taught because they show the apptitude to be able to control it. The same could be said of these Taurens that wish to become paladins.
I just think for my purposes at least this is what the scenario is going to be in my head. As far as the whole Troll priest thing is concerned it's the same for me. I do understand why the class racials went away. It is just that is makes more sense that one day you see someone new come into your camp and you say wow that guy has awesome power and I want to wield it. So you do whatever it takes to get that power which means you start living your life in the same manner. Just my two cents on it.

Read this for Forsaken Paladins.
Otherwise, let me explain Tauren Paladins a little bit.
First off Yeah I read that crap and that is just what it is, crap. I still say it should have been undead that got to be paladins. I mean some of them probably were paladins and if the blood elves can fall and find a way to retain the power so can the undead.
1. PvP balance
2. Do you know how long it takes to create feasible and balanced spells for a new class all the way to 80? Not to mention it would be Tauren only, which would make other races clamoring for their own classes, thus introducing 10 (12 in Cata) new classes into the game. That's
A LOT
to create and balance.
3. Races I can see more of, but that makes creating more storyline/zones/animations/what-have-you/
4. Read link above on why there can be no Forsaken Paladins. And remember, this is from the lore-masters of Wowhead.
Now, Tauren Priests are simple enough to explain.
Human/Dwarf/Draenei/Blood Elf priests=the Holy Light.
Night Elf priests=Elune
Gnome priests=Church of Technology or whatnot. We're not sure yet.
Troll priests=Loa god magic.
Forsaken priests=Shadow Priests. Dark mending and whatnot.
Tauren Priests=Earth Mother's eye, the Sun (An'she.)
As we can see, all priests worship a divinity. The Light is the most popular, but the others still gain power from their respective God/Godess.
Paladins are the same
Human/Dwarf=the Light
Draenei=The Naaru
Blood Elf=Sucked from Naaru, now granted willingly.
Tauren=Power of the Earth Mother's eye An'she, the Sun.
THATS CALLED A
DRUID
.
To a druid, nature is a delicate balance of actions, in which even the smallest imbalance can create storming turmoil from peaceful skies. Now that would make your statement true, except for this:
Tahu Sagewind says
: The elves speak of a moon goddess, did you know? They put great stock in the light given by the moon.
Aponi Brightmane says
: Like Mu'sha.
Tahu Sagewind says
: Just like her. The parallels I've heard are interesting.
And it's no secret all druids, Shu'halo and elf alike, can call upon Mu'sha's light.
(Added bold.)
Tahu Sagewind says
: But we're nothing if not people who strive for balance. Our warriors fight only when there is need. Our hunters take only what the tribes require to live, and use all they can when they do. The shaman stand as guide and mediator to the elemental spirits.
Tahu Sagewind says
: And while we, as druids, are guardians of nature, I wonder if we've overlooked a key aspect of balance in all things.
Tahu Sagewind says: Still... there is balance in all things, even death. I simply hate the concept that such destruction and darkness might be necessary.
Aponi Brightmane says: There's a phrase... "It's always darkest before the dawn." The dawn will come, though, Tahu. the sun will rise. The balance will shift back to where it should be.
Aponi Brightmane smiles and gestures to the north.
Aponi Brightmane says: Even on the glacier itself, the sun manages to peek through the gloom. I have hope, Tahu. I think we'll make it through this, no matter how dire it looks.
So we see after all this is that Tauren Paladins worship the Sun yes... However the Sun is a part of a
Goddess
, thus giving Tauren Paladins, not the power of the Sun, but the power of a Goddess, which is what Paladins are all about. While Human Dwarf Paladins use Light, the Draenei and Blood Elves use power given by the Naaru, a race of energy beings. So why can't Tauren use the Light of Elune, the power of a
Goddess
, which is as powerful as the Light and the Naaru?
