Eh, if you dont like being ganked play on a pve server.
Leveling up on a PvP server, i was ganked many times, and that was greater incentive to get my character to 80 and get some "payback". its a vicious cycle and makes the game entertaining. Even though its frustrating, it gives a whole new excitement to the game. Some of the most fun was epic pvp encounters with alliance, your heart races, people rush in to help on both sides.
Getting ganked at lower levels breeds a hate for the opposite faction into you and you cant wait to reciprocate the feeling :)
Well said and agreed. Sorry OP but games are for entertainment value only, and really killing dragons is just as "pointless" as ganking when it comes down to it. Play how you want to play, noone is forced to play on a pvp server.

First, let me say that I think of ganking as killing someone you know has no chance to successfully fight back.
That's usually what goes on in one of my typical FPS matches. :D Kekekekeke...
The difference is that people are used to dying in first person shooters, not in MMORPGs.
Horde kills Alliance, Alliance kills Horde - and level doesn't matter; you shoot first and ask questions later.
This is basically what it comes down to. Occasionally you get nice people who don't kill / attack you for whatever reason, but the Red = Dead formula is what you should assume is going to happen all the time.

I dont care what level they are, I will kill them. Even if I am 80 and they are 11.
Because I know if I was the lvl 11 the lvl 80 wouldn't hesitate to kill me.
Least that's how it in on my server.

I play on a pve server but on occasion i will dot he quests that flag me as pvp. I understand and look out for opposing players. What I do find anoying in regards to ganking is when I do not intend to pvp go into Wintergrasp to purchase stuff from the shard vendor and get ganked while i am shopping. Usually it takes 2-3 to get my pally down but my lock get stuned right off the bat and you can figure as a clothie my lifespan is approximately 3 seconds.
When this happens i usually just rez and fly out and hope that the next time i go in it will be safe. I know i could zone in just before a battle starts but that usually gets in my way of raiding and farming as i don't have that much time to dilly dally most days.
