Anyone else 'upset' that in cata, MP5 is going to be replaced by spirit for shamans?
I'm just happy that I'll be able to use BOTH healing and caster stuff to lash out damage (as spirit will give Elemental Shaman hit).
Spirit will be the shizzle.

This change affects you how? They're rebalancing everything anyway, so the conversion from MP/5 to Spirit won't make a difference - it will be swallowed up in the rebalance. This also means that those Spirit+Haste or Spirit+Crit cloaks will actually be useful for us (we just have to share, but then again priests/druids can use MP/5 while we currently can't use spirit). For a resto shaman, it's mainly a change in flavor text, which I don't see as a big reason to QQ.
For an ele shaman, I see this as a buff - it means that healy gear is actually useful.

Indeed.
Anyway, I did a bit of looking and comparing of items, and it would seem that the transition of stats is going to be very easy to cope with. Look at the following comparisons of items:
From
comparing
the items
Boots of the Icy Floe
to
Sandals of the Mourning Widow
, we get that:
8 haste + 59 hit (67) = 67 spirit
Further shown in a likewise
comparison
of
Deathfrost Boots
,
Plague Scientist's Boots
and
Sandals of Consecration
:
16 crit + 64 hit (80) = 80 haste = 80 spirit
So, the talent is probably going to convert
1 spirit = 1 hit-rating
. Then again, we'll then get an innate hit% just from our base-stats, which is slightly cool, or it might simply mean that the ratio is going to be tuned down a small notch. In any case, the ratio looks very good as it is now.

Mp5 is a lot more simple kinda.
When you got spirit h/f calculating
Because it's hard to multiply by a value, right?
Also, 2 spirit is better than 1 spirit, just as 2 mp5 is better than 1 mp5.

The formulae are easily found by going to wowwiki and looking up "spirit." The level value will be different per level, but overall its the same formula. Instead of complaining "I don't know how to figure it out" and then assuming nobody knows, try doing a small bit of research. Even if its simply asking the question - but dont just assume because you dont know the answer that nobody does.
Druids and priests have figured it out just fine.
EDIT: Is it so important for
you
in particular to know the formula? If you're having mana problems in cata, get more spirit - otherwise keep stacking throughput. Basically the same as it is now with MP/5, except its a different name and number.
