Based on the speed that you kill mobs, if a mob is below 50% after your initial Ambush -> Evis, I would recommend not putting up SnD. However if your mob is below 15-20% after this, I WOULD recommend putting up SnD and Shadowstepping the next mob. Always use Shadowstep whenever it is up for your Ambush crits.
Premed + Shadowstep + Ambush -> Evis
if mob's hp > 50% then Hemo -> SnD (1pt)
if mob's hp < 50% and > 20% then Hemo 4-5x -> Evis
if mob's hp < 20% and another mob close then Hemo 2-3x -> SnD -> pool energy
I also recommend Remorseless Attacks, as Shadowstep will allow you to make use of it almost every single time.
In addition, Ghostly Strike should fit in your rotation whenever you grab two melee mobs, but if you've got the energy reduction at Hemo, I wouldn't recommend it unless you're finding yourself at <50% hp after just a couple fights, then I'd use it just to keep from using first aid all the time.
I'm a huge fan of subtlety, even though I'm stuck running Mutilate at 80 for arena. I think that subtlety leveling is perfectly viable despite what others may say here - the burst is easily sufficient for downing mobs, and while it will slow down a little at 75-76 it still isn't that bad.

I am dual-specced but I will always default to subtlety for level'ing because that's how I started playing (before I learned the math), I find it to be efficient enough albeit not the best, and I like to stay alive. Plus, I love being able to absolutely crush the nuts off any Horde that thinks they are going to interrupt my questing! All told, with questing - and I am sure I will get yelled at for saying this, but this is just my anecdotal take - all three specs have their own unique way of getting the job done easily.
When dealing with one enemy (mob and non-plated player alike) I like to go for the throat. Shadowstep (if applicable), ambush, eviscerate. At this point, most targets are either dead or a few nominal presses of your combo-building attack away from being dead. Plate-wearing players are going to be standing there, but this is nothing that a blind/stealth or vanish and (repeat above) can't solve, but that's for another thread.
All in all, you can happily ambush and eviscerate your way through almost any quest. If you are geared decent enough at that level, you should be able to lop off anywhere from 7,000 to 12,000 if you crit both; a situation that happens quite often with the various crit bonuses of these two abilities in your talent tree(s).
My rotation when I am in a situation when I am going mob-to-mob:
ShS, Ambush, Eviscerate, SS to near death, SnD ...
... stealth, Ambush, Eviscerate, SS to death
Repeat. I also use Shadow Dance as my "oh crap" button. As a whole, Shadow dance isn't worth much, but it can get you out of some pretty screwed-up situations every so often. Although, when I finally get around to redoing everything, I won't be going that far again.
Edit: Not that you said it, but never use Sub in a group setting. I am about as big a subtlety apologist as there is and it just doesn't cut it, with or without HaT
