when we first found out about worgens/goblins i thought it would be cool to have a worgen rogue... then i got bored and impatient and levelled one to 80.
then i thought a worgen hunter would be cool (a wolf with a wolf pet? awesome) but then got bored and impatient and levelled one to 80.
there's not many classes i'm left with but i need a priest so worgen priest works... d'oh, i got bored last week so i now have a level 50 dwarf priest >.<
my point is that it's probably not worth waiting around. you could level one of each class to 80 before you have worgens available. i think i might level a second lock with cataclysm.

My wife and I are considering rolling some Alliance toons, come Cata. She, a Draenei. And I, a Worgen. If I did a Worgen, it would most likely be a Warlock or a Druid. I've been wanting to play with a non-Cow druid for awhile now. And I really, really like the Worgen idea. (Much as I'm a Hordaholic)
Cataclysm is prolly not that far away. It's already March, and Blizzard hasn't said anything to indicate they'd be pushing Cataclysm back. (Except, possibly, the release of more content, like Ruby Sanctum, after they said they were going to place the focus on Cataclysm) Warlocks are getting a makeover for Cataclysm. So, you can expect for some things to change.
Right now, it's a really good time to hit the LFG for some massive experience gains. Especially, if you have two pieces of heirloom gear (Shoulders and Chest, 40 emblems each) which give you a combined XP boost of 20%. Who knows what'll change with this stuff, between now and then?
Worst case? If you
really
think you made a mistake, later, you can always do a Faction/Race change later on.

Like Asakawa, I'll most likely be leveling a second lock when cataclysm hits since the whole experience of at least 1-60 will be completely new.

I got quite a few alts already, and if I would create ANOTHER alt, I'd make a totally different class. In my case, a shammy most likely (and probably a goblin!). Or delete my draenei warrior and start over ... or a rogue!
urgh, maybe I should just stick with my alts and level those instead ... Still got a 23 warrior, 40 priest and 71 dk to finish!

i've got a lock, druid, dk, rogue and hunter at 80 (lock, hunter, rogue and druid are ICC geared all over 5300gs - DK got left at totc with about 5k gs). my other active alts are a mage at 73 and a priest that is 50ish (he'll be my next 80 since mages are boring :P).
in a game that includes BoA gear it's just too easy to level new classes to wait around.

That's a slight problem for me, I actually made it quite hard for myself. The thing is, my lvl 80 toons are both horde, and ALL of my alts are ally (I'd redirect you to my sig, but I just noticed it doesn't mention races ...). 2 of em are even on a different (PvP) server :-/
I have been thinking about transferring my 2 lowest alts to my main server, but I still wouldn't be able to send them BoA gear. Unless I go and lvl my 71 dk to 80, farm emblems and spend all of em on BoA stuff ...

i thought cross faction mail was in the game already? i've never used it (or had need to) but didn't they put it in?
as for cross server, i've got friends who have loaded a character up with all the BoA gear they could ever need and done a server transfer with them.

Crossfaction is in game, but ONLY for BoA gear. No bags, no gold, nada.

kk I'll give it a go tonight, cheers for that.
(it will make it a tiny bit harder to gem my gear though, lol :p luckily, I can pass down the plate BoA items to my warrior when my dk reaches 80)
Edit: and I just noticed you can buy em with crusader's seals as well! Woot!
Edit #2 : bought some BoA plate gear and successfully sent them to my nelf dk! ^^

I've never done Warlock, Druid or Warrior past level 10, so I'll make one of those as my Worgen.

If you can afford it, then play now and race change, otherwise your going to have to wait.

I suspect that race changes won't be available for the new races quite so early on. Blizzard seems to have a very strong desire to "encourage" us to experience as much of their created game content as possible.
