Just started out on a new server with some of my IRL friends so we can all play together. We have all, in effect, ditched our previous guilds with our pampered 80's.
I made a miner so I can get gold quick for my epic flying mount. I have been successful so far in my endeavors. Then one of the friends I played with basically, I think, wants my ores for free. He disenchants my greens because I am going to level enchanting once I hit 80 so does that mean free ore? I mean he offered to buy them but I could tell he was a little annoyed when i said that I could C.O.D them because the whole purpose of me having mining was to make gold for my epic flying mount. I even said that before he asked about my ores. Then when I ask him what ores he needed he links his JC. Well i dont want to go through and figure out what you need. Thats not my responsibility. Just kinda rubbing me the wrong way. I knowim being slightly greedy but that 5k + 1k for northrend flight gold isnt gonna just make itself.
IDK to me if you decide to be a JC /Enchanter on a new server its not my responsibility to level your professions if we are all starting over - myself included.
Edit: My question is..what would be a fair price?

There is no fair price. Sell him same price than you would to a stranger (unless he project to give you a % of his future profits made by his profession). NEVER mix business and family/friends. You could have got your DE from someone else, just because the person who did it was your friend doesnt entitle him to a special favor.

Not to mention I think most players would rather spend 5 minutes D/Eing a bunch of greens than farming ore for hours which relies on luck and requires a bit more attention. My 2cp

Think of it this way: all the ores you mine to levelling your JC from 1 to 450 (and more), will be consumed to level his JC from 1 to 400. This is not a fair deal. Keep your greens and DE them yourself, that way, you will get the skill-up from DEing them too.
Simply tell him that you don't believe it's working out. Like Wildhorn says, don't mix business and friends, it's never wise to do so.

Yea I have thought about having my ores "turned into" enchanting mats for when I start my enchanting leveling. I have leveled it SEVERAL times so I am not too worried about it. Not to mention free ores for him later means I have grounds to request gem recipes :) I agree never to mix business with friends and I rue the day I mentioned it.
I leveled 1 - 80 recently and did not make 6k gold. I either didnt do it right, OR i used my trade skills instead of selling the mats. I have, however, leveled to 80 and sold all the mats I gathered on the way and made it.
I have leveled JC without a miner and I know it is a gold sink to do but its really not that bad. I had more problems with Blacksmithing. Idk, I still think if you choose to have that combo its not my responsibility to level your profession, call dibs on my ore (yes he said he wanted dibs on my saronite...which you have to admit is bit much). Its still my ore to do with as I please.
Edit: Once I get the epic flying quite obviously I wont care. I just wish he would respect my goals.

I had a similar issue a while back. My mate decided to level a leatherworker and a jc at the same time.
I was levelling a skinner and miner on one alt for pure profit... you can see where its going.
I already had a jc maxed and a leatherworker maxed so i didnt need any freebies in return. There was nothing in this for me other than spunking masses of profit in the name of his alts. He wasnt chuffed when i essentially said no but i figured that i wasnt out of order. I offered it all at ah prices minus 10% to be nice but he decided to be an arse about it :P

@Gusideon: OT, level your bank alts to 10 so Blizz has a record of them in case you get hacked. It's very little work for the security.
@OP: Gusideon is exactly right. You don't want to refuse everything if the person is actually a friend, but you can't level their prof for them either. You should be able to say, "Dude, I'm happy to give you a few ores/bars here and there but I'm trying to make my own gold too." Either they'll take you at your word and only ask for a few bars, or they'll think you don't want to help them at all. Stubborn and Selfish people will usually think the latter and generally don't make good friends.
@ongoova: really 10%. I'd give 10-20% off to a random whisper asking to buy in bulk. If I'm bulk selling to a friend for a limited time where they're leveling a prof, and not making money yet I'd give a 50% discount. If it's only for them to turn and make a profit then I'd expect a share of the profit and just give them the mats.
