Anyone have any wild guesses about what will happen to Quel'Danas in Cataclysm?
The Scourge and Burning Legion have both been defeated, so if they update this zone, what would happen? Seems to me the entire island would need a new set of quests... which would be a nice PvE complement to Tol'Barad when we're 85.

Well server wise it's actually part of Outland (Even though it does not appear on the Outlands map), which they said they would not be changing. However when they said this I think it means lore wise, so perhaps we will still need a change.
Edit: Human Identification Code: Poney.

The Burning Legion hasn't been defeated. They only get setbacks.
They hint at it being "more fun" on PvP servers, so I imagine it won't carry the PVP element when the battle isn't happening.Fun on a PvP server = massive ganking & fights over quest spawns etc. Just hope the guards will be less crazy than the SSO ones...

Well, specifically they were defeated on Quel'Danas.
Honestly, I don't expect the island to change, but from a lore standpoint I guess you could concoct a story about the 'new' Lich King keeping up certain pretenses around Azeroth against a small remnant of the Legion on the island.

Lore-wise quel'danas has changed a lot since TBC; this is reflected when you do the quel'delar quest, you go to quel'danas and the island is phased, no more kael'thas hommies tearing up the island, no more demons inside the sunwell, instead, they were rebuilding the place up.
wheter or not they redo the island on cata remains to be seen, but lore-wise the island IS diferent, I wish blizzard does updates the island, perhaps making the sunwell non-instanced and allowing us to visit the place up.

This is interesting... I've yet to do the Quel'delar quests so I wasn't aware of this. When you travel to the Sunwell, is the whole island phased and updated or just the interior of SWP?

It's probably only phased for that section of the questline.
