Wich comps your friend is running ?
Paladins are excellent for TSG ( Warrior/DK/Pal ) because dispels and blessing of freedom are a must to keep your buddies off CCs but Druids are excellent for caster cleaves because they can help with the CC chain.

Even though I love my Paladin and prefer healing on it, for overall PvP utility you can't beat a Druid.

Well, I guess you could run DK/Ret/Druid but you must know this: It's gonna be rubbish.
DKs and Ret are not the killing machines they were in season 5, they are more "support" than real killers.
The Ret paladin brings dispells, blessing of freedom, bubbles, hammer to lock a target for the kill ( When I was running warrior/ret/druid, we saved the hammer to stop heals during the bladestorm and land a kill ) and blessings. Of course, when it's the time to kill, the paladin can use Wings ( aka Avenging wrath ) and put some some burst.
The DK brings interrupts, a huge blanket silence ( a silence you use to prevent casts instead of stopping an incoming spell ), death grips and so on...
Those 2 classes brings excellent utility but they lack real "killing power". You'll have troubles killing a serious team because:
- You don't have enough CCs to stop 1-2 opposite players to have the time to land a proper kill.
- You don't have enough raw damage to land a kill in short CCs.
- Without a MS or purges, you'll have huge issues to put pressure in a target with the back-up of a healer.
In a nutshell, if you are not excellent players, you'll struggle to kill anything. If you want to go further, I suggest this: Ask one of the paladins to go Holy, roll a warrior or a hunter and use the DK for your 3rd member.
If you really wants to run something like DK/Ret + healer. Roll a druid.

Well, one of the key rules about team formation is: In 95% of the teams, using twice the same classes is usually not a good idea ( but there's exceptions like Man Cleave ( Arms warrior/Prot warrior/Holy paladin ) because you won't be able to get a maximum of buffs ( ex: Even if you have 2 priests, you won't be able to have 2 fort buff ). Also, your CCs will be shared ( the stuns will be shared for the 2 rogues. )
The rogue/dk/paladin could work, you have not so bad CCs ( you could lock down a healer in a blind/strangulate/hammer chain if you can force trinket on a earlier hammer ), great interupts and a mortal strike effect.
It's not a great comp but It could work.
