[pvp]A question to the vets

Greetings Rogue forum, I'm a new rogue (only level 65) and I'm wondering about specs and play styles. I'm dual speced as combat/sub, pve/pvp respectively, I'm really enjoying pvp as a rogue what with all teh sneakyness but my sub spec currently feels clunky and I'm having issues effectively violating people in bgs, maybe I'm just doing it wrong lol. Granted there are many variables but it seems like more often then not I get exposed before I can let my ambush fly. Now I've read threw the stickies already but I haven't found anything that describes the separate talent trees enough or how to play them. (being only 65 I can fill out a single tree and that's about it.)
From my understanding-
sub< wouldn't this be the best for pvp in bgs? i mean it looks like its all about brutal openers and taking down someone before they know whats hit them, but with my spec (on average) my ambush only hits for about 1.5k on a player, its not really an effective spec against plate.
combat< I tried it for a bit in pvp but found that killing spree bounced me between potentially 5 different targets and all I was doing was spamming sinister strike and riposte whenever it was up.
assa< I have never tried this spec but I've read that it is all about finishers, I'm not at all sure what to think of it and cant really get my head around how to use it.
I was wondering if, as a new rogue, there is another spec I should be trying out before sub to help me better learn the basics of rogue pvp. If anyone could offer some suggestions or perhaps a sample spec and some tips on how to play it, that would be awesome :3
**Edit**
Simple version: I have no idea what I'm doing and I'd like to learn to pvp with a rogue properly, whats the best way to start? I have a spec but no clue on how to use it. any advise would be much appreciated.

Ok so I have a spec to work with, but how do I use it? Is ambush my preferred opener with this or should I stick with garrote an cheapshot, do I spam mut or mix with sinister strike? what is my preferred finisher with this, envenom or eviscerate? or rupture even.
perhaps my post was to wall-of-texty.
I'll simplify it.

Open with cheap shot, mutilate till 5 cp (NEVER SS),wait till Cheapshot is done and then Kidney shot (Some will trinket that so then just vanish and re open). But,ppl cant teach you pvp,its very complex, use Envenom on mail+ and evisc on clothies and other rogues.Rupture only on warrs and rogues to prevent them from stealthing. But you'll just have to get out there and learn it for yourself.
P.S: When i was trying to get into pvp i found that rogue pvp videos were very helpful to me,they can teach you some neat tricks.
awesome! ty so much :3 with the knowledge I've got a decent spec an how to operate it I'm confidant I can learn without gimping myself :D

About opening, you can use a finisher on 4 combo points not just 5. I'd say envenom everything and forget eviscerate, it is easier and envenom hits pretty much the same as eviscerate on cloth.
Thx for the tip :D I'll give both a try see which works on what, also cant wait for CloS omg it will make restealthing so much easier lol

Quick question about deadlybrew, dose this talent require me to have crippling poison on a wep in order work or can I use deadly/wound and it just procs crippling on them?

Deadly Brew
does not require a crippling poison on your weapons.

Thanks for clearing that up pokela :3
So I tried out Mut in the BGs last night and wow, I can see why people love mut so much its a lot of fun to play. mut hits like a truck and so dose envenom, I no longer fear plate classes! >:D It's doing exactly what I was trying to do with subt, lots of quick burst and allowing me to get away before anyone sees and much less complicated.
Thanks to everyone who posted and helped get me on my way to really playing my rogue :3<3

Dismantling a hunter after a stunlock can be great as he will have no means to hurt you for a full 20 seconds
20sec of dismantle? Serious hunters have reduced time of disarm in pvp, also to have second dismantle you'd need to have prep glyph, and burn prep...
