By 80, you should have enough emblems for at least 1 piece t9.
Buy a piece or two of crafted gear.
Run the new regs.

I agreed with Hyper with the changes to the badges you should have atleast 30 badges by now. Toc is one of the easiest to get good gear to start you off. As for rep to get first I would go with Sons of Horid (sp) and Ebon Hold do to the enchants for your shoulders and head that they have. Other then that do randoms till your blue then run more.

Yes the badge helm and shoulders for dps gear are better. You logged out in your tank gear so I can't see your dps gear. And a word of advice pick one spec to upgrade then as you see peices of gear that people don't need get them.
Your get in more Heroics tanking but people are always quick to blame the tank for everything. I see that your in a guild if they do runs together then thats the best time to help you gear. Also thats also some of the best time to work on tanking skills or dps for whichever spec you choose as your main.

I personally use the 4 peice for my tank gear but thats me. I think the 245 head and shoulders a little better then what you can get from your tier. The advice stays the same but you want to go for A.C. instead of Ebon Hold for rep first as it has the tank head enchant. If your going prot then try to get the bs bracers they have some defence which u need at this time.
Farm Toc for some drops they will help you gear. The Black Heart is a good trinket that will last u a long time. I was lucky that when I hit 80 on my pally that I aready had another main that had the money to get me some of the crafted gear.
First thing I would do it work some of lvling your proffesions you need the stam that you can get from mining and the Dragons Eyes are also very helpful.

Or do heroics as ret and get carried, before picking up enough offspec 200 pieces and getting enough badges for a piece or two of badge gear. That's what I did. My Death Knight is now happily tanking heroics and I didn't spend one copper on craftables.

Yeah, get carried as Ret until you've got 200+ epics in every slot for tanking. Take time to explore the emblem vendors (Valor and up) and make a shopping list of what you can get from heroics (triumphs, conquests and valor). Tanking is gear dependent, and getting carried as a DPS will let you learn the fights too, and how to move quickly and purposefully as a tank through instances.

Until you get your Argent Crusade and Sons Of Hodir rep up, you can get the PVP enchants for Helm/Shoulders for both dps (if you go the get carrried as Ret route) and tanking. Sons of Hodir have been severly nerfed... I got like 5k/12k honored just from doing the opening quests up to the part where you get Thorim his armor. So an evening of questing can get that for you.
