PW: S before a pull?

I am posting this question in both the Warrior and Preist forums...to get both points of view.
The heart of my question is this:
Should a priest PW:S(Power Word: Shield) a Warrior Tank before a pull?
Here is the background behind my question:
I just started leveling my Priest; I have not played my Priest since Vanilla WoW days..pre-AQ. I have not played WoW in general for about a year (and there have been lots of changes to both Priests and Warriors).
Back in Vanilla WoW, you did not want to PW:S your tank(which were almost all Warriors at that point) just before a Pull, because the damage negation hindered his early-pull rage generation, which in turn diminished his ability to get agro quickly.
I see frequent comments like "rage generation shouldn't be a problem" and with things like Charge in any stance, maybe it doesn't matter anymore. I recognize that this is not really a game-breaking decision here...but I am just curious. It was always my opinion that the small things are what made the difference between a good and a great player.

Shielding is fine. Anybody who is saying anything else right now is not up to date on changes to the game. (which were made several patches ago).

Should a priest PW:S a Warrior Tank before a pull?
Yes.
The only tank, nowadays, which it might not be optimal to PW:S is a Paladin tank who'd rely heavily on his
Spiritual Attunement
for regeneration (which shouldn't be an issue if he is using
Blessing of Sanctuary
, obtained at level 30, through talents...), so unless you're healing a Paladin and notice his mana going low early in fights, PW:S the tank every time his Weakened Soul debuff fades off.
Don't worry about PoM (Prayer of Mending) until you're level 68...
The exception to this is between 60 and 71, when paladins dont have Divine Plea, but do have high (mana out - mana in).

They can drop Consecration out of their rotation then.

Even then, just judging, hammering and shielding doesnt do good things for their mana. Its less of an issue, but I was having to drink three or four times a dungeon in Outlands. Hammer, Judge and Holy Shield is 1/6th of their mana pool.

while a pally is levelling, he should have 2 points in SA, especially during the time you mention.. it helps a lot with his mana regen. between this, judging wisdom, and blessing of sanct, their mana problems should be minor.. One thing i've found is that using the highest mana pot for your level will nearly give you 100% mana.. Use that in combat when you need it and you should be alright.
