Alright. So this is a little fan fic I wrote introducing my new massive instance(s) that I am currently designing. I don't exactly know if it belongs here, so if it seems to be inappropriate for this board, please move it.
Present:
A new day dawns on the People's Palace, a pristine pinnacle of architecture emanating with immense power and history. So large, it is able to house a city. Its placement on the plateau of a mountain signifies its defensible walls. Never have they been breached by magic or steel...It lords over the kingdom of D'Hara and stands as a symbol of peace and life to the world
Until now...as it is but a shadow of its former self...
In the upper halls of the palace, running footsteps resounded.
A woman, whose age is hard to determine, as most are under the palace's new spell of practical immortality, dashes through in a rush, passing by the many libraries that are housed in that particular area of the palace. She seems to move with a stumble, as if she isn't able to use one of her legs properly, and her face is hard, as if she's been through difficult times. She wears a pristine robe of a blank grey, which flows behind her.
What can I do about this? She thinks to herself as she turns another corner, reaching the flight of stairs she was looking for. Her mind suddenly flashes back to a man, much younger than herself, talking to an insidious being with scaly red skin and a blazing aura that seemed to overwhelm all before it. It had been a year since that happened, and since then, the greatest bastions of the Old and New World alike have fallen before its power.
She reaches the landing, and runs down a hallway overlooking a lush garden, tranquil and filled with life. The only clashing feature is a simple stone altar in the center, with three identical black boxes on it. They appear darker than dark, as if they suck in the light around it.
She makes another turn to the right, spotting another, smaller staircase that winds upward sharply. She takes it, her breath heaving in exhaustion. As she dashes up the tower, sights over the plains surrounding the palace become apparent through the small windows every several steps.
She finally reaches the top, into a rather medium-sized room overlooking the Garden of Life. It is completely empty. She nods to herself...
She withdraws a blue-green crystal from her pocket and begins to channel her energy into it, focusing on anywhere but there: someone had to know.
Suddenly, a man, though not quite that old despite his graying hair, but with the look of one who's seen a thousand years of turmoil appears at the doorway. He calmly looks at the woman, then inquires in a smooth, commanding voice that matches his demeanor perfectly, "Adie, what are you doing?"
The woman looks back in shock. She gazes at the crystal again. It is now glowing orange...the constructed spell was ready. She answers with an equal calm, "I be going now Nathan, I can't be here anymore." He looks taken aback by her determined statement.
He responses, "I knew we couldn't trust you. It is for the greater good, you know." A dark, burning echo fills his voice...the same as that insidious being.
"The corruption be getting to you too Nathan," Adie retorts, "...I be going now." With a sudden movement, she hurls the crystal at the ground in front of her. At the same instant, Nathan releases an angry ball of fire, that explodes against the orange sphere that materializes in front of Adie. She gets sucked in...and, while flying through a vibrant display of colors, is knocked unconscious, her last thought on hoping she could find someone to save her world...
Nathan examines the area where Adie vanished, and turns about, leaving his observation room where he frequently goes to contemplate...

The final statue is a difficult one to place, the man thinks to himself. He begins waving his hands as they glow, causing the life-sized statue of a man, with an expression of relief, relief that what he sought out to do was over at last, to rise up and take its position at the top of the fountain, right at the center between the four statues that bordered it, two humans, and two of a more abnormal race...The man who is to be in the center holds a sword, one of immense power that cannot even possibly be set in stone well. A sphere floats halfway down the blade where it curves downward to fit it shining even as stone.
In addition, there are plaques on two sides reading:
"Dedicated to those that fell to the Scourge during the war in the frozen wastes."
Many onlookers gaze as the mage moves the statue into position, and as it lets out a faint thud to go in place, the crowd cheers at the symbol of peace from the looming tyranny that was there for many years. A bright future lay ahead for all...
The mage began his walk back towards the southern region of the immense, magical city, stopping occasionally to exchange greetings with passerby.
He soon approaches a great towering structure, so elaborate that it shoots up hundreds of feet into the sky. This was the place he stayed at and called his home, and where he ruled the city from. At the top of the steps to this great citadel stood a woman. She looked attractive and slim, mostly through the archery training her people do. Her ears are slightly tapered and and barely stand out over her pale blonde hair. She carries her bow, betraying a constant sense of alertness.
"Vereesa..." The man says, smiling.
"You did good Rhonin," the High Elf spoke in a graceful voice, almost like song. She returns the smile.
Rhonin steps up to meet his wife, his partner in life. But as he reaches the top of the stairs, a force, as if there were an explosion without sound, emanates from the fountain that he had just left. The world seems to stop suddenly, then the next second the citizens of the cities are in uproar, many rushing towards the origin of the force. Rhonin and Vereesa look at each other for a brief moment, then join the rushing crowd.
Upon reaching the fountain, they push through the mass of people. In the fountain is a woman, unconscious, with orange, powdery residue all over her.
A few of the crowd try to life her out of the fountain, but the woman begins to cough as she regains consciousness...
The woman tries to stand, though she's obviously dazed and having difficulty keeping herself steady.
"I be needing...help," she says to no one in particular.
She collapses again as she falls out of the fountain.
At that instant, Rhonin and several others rush towards her, picking her up with utmost care and carrying her in the direction of the citadel. Hopefully, all she needs is rest, Rhonin thought to himself. He stops partway to the citadel, letting the others, all of different races but united in cause, carry the woman. He turns about and heads back towards the fountain, as something was still on his mind.
He immediately examines the orange residue when he returns to the fountain. They look like fragmented crystal, similar to the common material that some spellweavers used to cast portals. He brings his power to bear, so he can further examine the residue with the insight granted by magic. He nearly lets out a gasp; the residue crackles with an an overwhelming amount of energy, though sadly, he realized it could not be harnessed in its current state...
He steps back, analyzing the situation.
"Clearly this must be a woman of great power," Rhonin says to himself...But whether she was a threat was another story.

Adie wakes up in a small circular room. Next to the bed she rested in is a simple nightstand as well as a chest at the foot of the bed. Her eyes scanned the violet-blue room. Where am I? she thinks to herself. She then notices two men at the far corner of the room, both robed in a rich purple, though the gleam in one of the man's eyes displayed authority.
He turns towards Adie and says, attempting to suppress the mild surprise from his voice, "Ah, you have awoken."
Adie says with a brittle voice, "Where..."
The man interrupts, "You are in the magical city of Dalaran my lady. I am Rhonin, at your service." The second man chimes in, "And I am Archmage Vargoth, at your service." Rhonin gives a brief glare at the Archmage, then looks back at Adie, saying, "Now...the better inquiry would be: Who are you, and where did you come from?"
"The woman needs her rest. Rhonin, why the need to inquire so quickly?" The other man objects.
Rhonin gives another longer, withering stare at the man and says, "Silence, Archmage."
Adie says, her voice growing in strenght, "There be no need to worry, wizard." The man looks taken aback by the somewhat degrading remark. "I be fine, and I will answer."
"My name be Adie, and I came from a land called D'Hara."
Rhonin nods, "Go on," he says, with a tone of assurance.
"We be a place that overthrew the shackles of tyranny in the form of the Imperial Order. They be wanting to convert everyone to their belief of being rewarded in the next life while living a miserable existence prior to it. We lived peacefully for two decades under the rule of Richard Rahl, but he always be saying he doesn't rule us, but we be ruling ourselves and our own lives.
"But then they came..."
"Who?" Vargoth interjects.
"These evil beings. I don't know how exactly to describe them. Some be looking like beings of the Underworld, but some be more twisted and devious than that."
"Did they call themselves anything?" Rhonin asks, though he was sure he already knew.
"The be calling themselves the Burning Legion." Adie says grimly.
Rhonin frowns as he recalls what happened to his beloved city at the hands of the Burning Legion.
Adie continues, "I be needing to escape. They took over everything and corrupted all our people." She withdraws something from her pocket, a pair of blue-green crystals. "These be called portal crystals, a constructed spell of sorts that I used to get here."
Rhonin nods again, "I see. So that's why it was so familiar (referring to the residue). It's a similar material used by mages to create portals. I suppose the range of power can vary, though I never suspected one could travel between worlds like you did."
Adie hands him the crystals saying, "You must help to save my world. I be unable to do it myself. I used all my energy to get here, but I don't have enough to be making portals back to D'Hara. I can provide whatever is necessary short of that though."
Rhonin pauses for a moment as he turns over one of the crystals in his hands. He can feel the crackling energy within, just waiting to be catalyzed to make a portal. "Very well," he says, "We are united in your cause. The Burning Legion cannot be allowed to consume, even if it is another distant world. They must be stopped."
He pauses again, thinking. He then says, grimly, "But who will take up the standard. Who has the strength to wrest a world from the grip of the Burning Legion?"
