Hello,
I've been on break for a bit over a year and just re-subbed this week. I know a lot has changed to speed overall leveling up and was curious to the average times, given the play schedule is averaged to a few hours a night give or take ( longer sessions on the weekends ). Note, before the break I'd played since launch in 2004 so I'm fairly knowledgeable on most of the quest lines on both factions. I have a 70 lock that I'll cruise to 80 with leisurely but I'm going to be leveling a 44 druid and a semi-fresh shaman.
Thanks in advance.

Right I've read up on a number of the changes such as the mounts and XP increases so I guess I'm looking for some general estimates in weeks to hit 60 or 70. I know that 70-80 is going to be a bit different since it's going to be all new content for me.
Thanks,
D

I just took my warlock from 1-80 in about two weeks with a little more than average play time. With no heirlooms and casual play time I am sure you can get a character 1-80 in about three, three and a half since you're not familiar with the new 70-80 content.

Please define "average" playtime. I do not think that word means what you think it means. ;)

with slow ground mounts at 20, epic ground mounts at 40, and slow flyers at 60 (and slow flyers buffed to 150% speed) leveling is quicker than ever. If you can afford BOA hierlooms its even quicker.
Back in my day we had to take the nike express all the way to 40 and didn't get epic ground till 60 and there was no flyers.
Hell yeah! Getting an epic ground mount at 60 was a big deal back then; it cost quite a bit of gold, and a lot of level 60 players were still riding their level 40 mounts for some time until they could afford an epic one.

Just wanted to say a big thank you - this is exactly the input I was looking for. Not even sure why I bother ever going to the WoW boards, such a better crowd at Wowhead across the board.
I think I'll get my lock to 80. I have several good friends playing that I'm working with irl ( hence, they drug me back in :P ) so some solid supoort on that front. I like the idea of using the Heirloom peices. While I enjoy know the lower level content quite well there's no reason to skip that big of a boost to go through formality.
Thanks again.
Side note: I wonder if the next expansion will offer the ability to start a new toon at level 55 ( ala deathknight ) so long as you have a level 80-85. Of course, the option to start at lvl 1 would be there too. Perhaps wishful thinking, but why not at this point.
cheers.

Unless you were a sexy warlock like me, and had a kick ass story line and event. Honestly - there' never been anything match the original warlock epic mount event. It was crazy fun if you took normally geared 60's - I was able to save money by using another locks' summon items, but it certainly wasn't 'free' like some people complained about. Anyway - loved that effort the dev team took in creating a personal experience.
