Leveling w/ BoA Gear and more - Questions

So, I want to start a Priest and have a few questions about leveling. I already have some BoA gear and a maxed tailor. Currently I have the heirloom cloth PVP shoulders, PVE chest, and Grand Staff of Jordan. I had a bunch of Stonekeeper Shards, so I went with the PVP stuff. I'll probably pick up 2x Discerning Eye trinkets too. Also, I plan to use the LFD tool early and often. I assume I should easily be able to que as heals/dps in whatever spec I use until 40.
My questions are:
With heirloom and tailored gear and my goal to mostly use LFD what will be my best leveling spec? The
Energizer™ Smite Spec
sounds like it would be good.
Once I hit 40 and dualspec should I go with raid builds, or are there better leveling builds? I haven't decided if my main spec will be Holy or Disc. I'll do Shadow as off.
Disc sounds really interesting, especially the part of being able to aoe heal/dps trash in heroics. However, there's not much info about leveling with it except don't do it until 50-60. It looks like the only spell in the rotation that you don't have early is
Penance
which you can get at 60, but would probably wait until 63 since you would get
Spirit Tap
first. Although
Borrowed Time
also seems very nice for a much more powerful PW:S.
Is there any more info on playing Disc, either leveling 60+ or at 80? The
one helpful thread
is quite helpful, but I always like more info or views/opinions.
Is there anything else I should know before starting my journey to create an awesome Priest?

Really? It doesnt matter.
You can level as any spec, or even no spec, and get there. Play around, dont rush to endgame, and get to know your way around your class.
Guides are no substitute for experience, particularly for a class as versatile as priests.

"super-bubbles", I love it.
dhampir, I understand what you're saying and I do plan to get plenty of experience. My goal here is to make sure I get the right experience. If I level with a poor spec then I might make bad decisions on when to use certain skills, or to even use them at all, because in my experience they might suck.
I don't expect guides to be a replacement for experience. I'm gonna have 80 levels with this toon so experience will be hard not to get. I would however like the guides to help me not waste my time experiencing bad practices. I'll learn plenty from my own mistakes even with help.
Another question. I heard that Disc priests used to be bad for warrior and pally tanks. I heard that that certainly changed for warriors, but how about pally's? We can easily get mana starved if we're not healed. Good pally's can deal with this, but I'd prefer to be able to do something on my end instead of telling the bad ones what they need to do.

There is only a small window while leveling that it hurts.
Spiritual Attunement
is a talent lvl 40 talent now, so before 40 there is nothign you can do to help their mana. From 40-71 they need to take a steady stream of damage & healing to keep their mana up, using bubbles on them sparingly will help tremendously. At 71 they gain
Divine Plea
which they should glyph and use every cooldown, which will help a lot.

This is almost right.
Before I continue: My main is a prot paladin and I'm just dinging 78 on my healing priest, so I can kind of speak to both points.
SlowSide, you're mostly right. Taking damage is a small part of mana regen from SA, but as I was levelling, the combination of
Blessing of Sanctuary
(at 30) and Seal of Wisdom should provide all the mana a pally tank needs while levelling. PW:S doesn't affect the mana return from BoSanc at all; that was fixed several patches ago.
As for priest levelling, I would relatively strongly suggest disc for two main reasons:
1) It's
much
more mana efficient to heal with in levelling gear, to the point that I could almost always finish an instance having only had to drink a few times (smooth runs, mind you). This only gets better after you get your Shadowbeastie and deeper into the tree.
2) Holy is, for the most part, rather overpowered for your average levelling instance. 90% of the time you can bubble the tank and use renew, whereas with holy, especially at lower levels, 4-5 big heals and you're ooming quickly, BoA gear or not.
These are just my opinions based on trying both specs out while levelling. I remained disc/shadow dual-specced until a couple nights ago, as I'll be a pure healer at 80, and wanted to start getting some experience with holy. Even now in decent Northrend blues and PVE BoA gear I have to really watch my mana during heal-intensive fights.

My main is also a prot pally, BoSanc regen is very dependent on gear and how much is attacking you, unlike end game you can't just make larger pulls to increase BoSance regen. Seal of Wisdom does of course help, but shouldn't really be the first seal a pally jumps for unless they are desperate for mana.
I leveled my priest to 80 as Holy... I rarely had mana issues until I respecced & started raiding. Holy may not be as mana efficient as Disc, but it is far from horrible.

Technically the "bad" window here is from 40-46. Once the priest is 47, they'll have 3/3 Rapture, which takes the sting out of bubbles not generating mana. It's not as much as not bubbling, but the difference becomes minimal.

Hrm.. perhaps I'm not doing it right. 0.o
Any suggestions? I've been using specs found in the stickies up above, but.. you have any recommended resources? I love the raw power of Holy, but the mana has been holding me up.
