How amazingly addicting warlocks are to play!
I started a lock many months ago thinking it would be an interestingly different class to play. I have an 80 prot pally and mage. I started the lock and was initially unenthusiastic. It was very difficult and I died often fighting more than one mob at a time, which I read locks could do pretty well. I struggled my way into the mid 30's and basically gave up, coming back now and then over the months for a couple more levels.
To make a long story short(er), less than a month ago, I decided to dig in since I was leveling him to be a tailor and my Frostweave cloth was really piling up. I came to the forums, respecced, still affliction, and finally got my felhunter, thank god for mage friends. That's when I became hooked.
Never in my wildest dreams did I think a cloth wearer could aoe mobs like a tank. Yes, I did plenty of frost aoe on my mage, but if one guy got loose or I made a small mistake, I was dead. And I had to take mana breaks often. With the lock it's just dot dot fear, though really it's more like dot dot dot dot dot dot dot dot... because once your dots can crit the baddies die before they can really hurt you. Sometimes I'm not quick enough to get drain soul on them in the second or two for them to go from 25% health to dead. Plus your gaining life everywhere. I don't even know where I'm getting health from sometimes. Haunt is quite possibly the best spell ever invented. And there are zero mana issues. The only time I find myself eating or drinking is after killing an elite a couple levels above me. I soloed the Nagrand Mastery quests, a 66 and two 67 elites when I was 64, just amazing.
I am now lvl 68, which was my goal so I can fly in Northrend to creat my special cloth every 4 days w/o worry of being killed. Back around lvl 30 I though I would just get him to 68 and stop. I even contemplated rolling another DK and abandoning my lock. Boy am I glad I didn't. Now I plan to play my lock whenever I have free time and he'll be my 3rd 80.
Much thanks to the helpful threads here to get me going in the right direction. Now I just need to start some PVP because I hear locks are good at that.
TLDR:
Pre lvl 40 I would have preferred a knife to the eye rather than leveling a lock.
Now lvl 68 and I would knife anyone else in the eye if they tried to take him away.

I know I need a new name, just haven't thought of a good one yet.

I named my warlock "peacekey" (took the opposite of war-lock), and then took the position "I need a new name." Well me GM one day commented on my Pally's name (multivitamin) and said "we need to get him out of the medicine cabinet before he comes up with something like a warrior named Enema. So next time I log in I have a warlock named Garlicenema, and I make pugs cringe when I walk in!
On topic - the lock is really fun, I agree. I enjoyed ele sham 75+ for its burst with lava burst, but CB hits harder than LB and I've got Conflag which is like a 2nd LB. And this is from a warlock in less gear than my shaman had - I levelled destro instead of affl, because I like burning down one mob at a time at a very impressive rate. Destro has the problem of the frost mage though, in that I've got a lot less self heals and messing up can kill me very quick.

Onijitsu means, "the way of the demon" in Japanese.
I actually like "Peacekey" an awful lot.

Lock was actually the second class I ever played and the first one I leveled past 10 and to be honest I found it really really easy. What isn't so easy is the mage I just started but thats not for this thread.
I really enjoy playing my lock. I've got her to level 70 not but I don't have WoTLK yet so can't get past that just yet. Damn it. However hopefully in the next few weeks I shall have it and blast my way to 80.
I guess I picked Yasandra for my lock's name mostly cause it just seemed to fit the character.
Lol @ Shrubbery. I wonder if theres a guild called "The Knigths who say Ni"

Locks are very addicting I have to agree. When I first started playing WoW, the first thing that amazed me was at the lock's Shadow Bolt. I thought it was the coolest thing ever created. After many locks, and many server changes, I've stuck to my lil BE Lock. I gave her the name Nekromanteia; its "Necromancer" translated in Greek. ( Or so I was told by the translator) I dual specced her Aff and Destro so I could kill stuff like a real lock, or just burn stuff to the ground like a mage.

I seem to remember having run into a warlock named "Netherhair" or something... a reference to pubes.
Some people come up with some great names. As long as they can live with it. Especially, if they ever have a guild meet, and have to put that on a "
Hi! My Name Is...
" sticker. ;-)
