Spam Arcane Explosion. Trust me.
Edit: He's talking about the encounter Harold Vashj (or whatever) where he casts insanity and you have to fight the other four party members.

Is that really the way to do it, if you only just dinged? Won't you have severe mana issues then?
Can't remember what it's like to be freshly dinged...
If the suggestion made before dosen't work for you, you can always wait with popping CDs untill you have to fight the copies.
Frost nova - Target healer - ABx2 - Healer dead - Pop MI - Assit your images
If they get close, use your PoM and then it's another image down really fast.

Frost Nova them in place, pop your Mirror Images so not all of the mobs will target you, and just focus fire them down. AB x2 + ABarr should be enough to down them, if your luck with crits, they'll probably go down after 1 AB + ABarr.
You shouldn't run into mana issues, just pop a Mana Sapphire or Mana Pot if your getting low, after the mobs are down and it's just the boss, you can do a quick Evocation to get back up.
If your really not able to down them, than just kite them around while using Frost Nova, Cone of Cold, ABarr and Fire Blast to damage them, and wait for your other part members to help you.
Also, focus down the Healer first, as that will make it a lot easier to deal with the other mobs usually.

Gemming should be like this:
- Red Socket:
Runed Cardinal Ruby
(+23 Spellpower)
- Yellow Socket:
Reckless Ametrine
(+12 Spellpower / + 10 Haste)
- Blue Socket:
Purified Dreadstone
(+12 Spellpower / + 10 Spirit)
If your socket bonus is anything other than +6 Spellpower or more, ignore the Socket Bonus and just gem
Runed Cardinal Ruby
, if it is +6 Spellpower or more, than you should get gems to activate the Socket Bonus.
Never use
Purified Dreadstone
except to get your Meta Gem activated, which means you need 2 of them, or if you need to get a Socket Bonus.
Your Meta Gem needs to be
Chaotic Skyflare Diamond
and nothing else.
NEVER gem for pure Intellect/Spirit/Haste/Crit!

Frost Nova
slow and nuke the healer before nova breaks on everyone
slow the most threatening image
nuke whomever is slowed as you'll do more damage to them
poping cooldowns as needed to survive
Due to mana restrictions from recently dinging I'd say mana shield isn't the best choice, give ice armor a shot though.

The fight is definitely harder as a new 80 mage, though keep in mind that you can spellsteal the HoTs that the healer puts on them (the AI loves HoTs, even when using a Priest where it may be less than optimal). This makes them go down faster, AND heals you.

Frost Nova, Blizzard, when they get close enough to hit you, use Cone of Cold for the slow effect, blink away to put distance between you and the now slow moving mobs, blizzard again, CD should be up on Frost Nova, so you can rinse and repeat. If after all of this, you are going OOM, or just about to die, pop Ice Block and wait for help.
Off topic, sort of, but you should try this with a Holy Pally who have very limited attack abilities. I run and I run and I run. :D
