For lvl 80 if u have primal precision you only need 16 expertise to be at the cap right?
Post by
Lightrain
6.5% for raid bosses I believe.(dodge cap/dps cap)
Parry cap differs by boss, hard cap I think is 15%. It's a tough cap to achieve.

so the 16 + 10 from talents would put me at 26 which is 6.5% if I'm correct?

IDK, I just look at the stat. Theres expertise on gear, expertise rating, then another conversion turning it into %.
You could use wowwiki and type in expertise to find the conversions. I, personally, open my character pane and *POOF!* there it is.
It's more than 26 expertise on gear tho, I know that.
Sorry, expertise is one of those stats, where the way they do it is so stupid, I ignore the process of how to get it where I want it.

Expertise Cap
Dodge Cap = 6.5% (26 exp/132 rating with Primal Precision)
Parry Cap = 14~15% (56exp/378 rating ~ 60 exp/410 rating with Primal Precision)
You want to be at or preferably above the dodge cap but there's no urgency to gear toward the parry cap.

This. I still don't know why blizzard has diminishing returns on expertise. It's just.... retarded.

diminishing returns on expertisewooo wowowooo whoa. WHAT? Where did you come up with that idea?...

Avoidance (dodge, parry, miss) and armor are the only stats with an actual DR mechanic where each additional point is worth minutely less than the point before.
Expertise, hit, and to a lesser extent crit and haste have no DR but they do have a cap where there's just no further need for more.

Meh, it's the way that quote shows it. They add PP into it, then take it out on the other end. It makes the numbers wrong if you plug them into a calculator.
See, now you got me thinking about this stupid quote. >.<
JUST READ IT OFF YOUR DAMN CHARACTER SHEET ALREADY!

JUST READ IT OFF YOUR DAMN CHARACTER SHEET ALREADY!Sorry, can't do that, haven't played WoW in about 2 weeks and my 'vacation' from the game won't stop any time soon.
And besides I have not seen my expertise being 'dropped' on any end on any occasion. I REALLY do not know what the fcuk you aer talking about here O_O
There is no 'stupid' process of doing expertise. Things are simple. Every 8 points of expertise rating are turned into 1% expertise skill. No more no less and no fancy hidden formulas. What's the explanation for your statement?

This is my problem.
Dodge cap=6.5%=26/4~(26-10)x
8.25
=132
Parry cap=14%=56/4~(56-10)x
8.217
=378
^^^^^^^^^=15%=60/4~(60-10)x
8.2
=410
Now, if you just use the raw numbers....
which is wrong, so don't say "you're a retard." I know it's wrong now.
132/26=5.077
378/56=6.75
410/60=6.833
Either way, the numbers don't add up to your "8" rating makes 1%. At least according to this post. Hell, it doesn't even add up to a consistent number....
Just to clear the confusion(now that it's been done, by me at least....).
8
(supposedly, I think it's closer to 8.2-8.25) expertise rating on gear makes
1
expertise rating on your sheet.
4
expertise rating on your sheet makes
1%
reduced chance to dodge/parry.
Approximately 33 expertise on gear to 1% reduction.
My armory shows 129 expertise~25 expertise rating(+15 expertise)=6.25% reduction
129/
8
=16.125
129/
8.2
=15.732
129/
8.25
=15.636
I'M GETTING CLOSER! >.<
Proof
More fun links to add to your confusion of exact numbers, and back up my reasons as to why I just read it off my character pane.
http://www.wowwiki.com/Expertise_rating
http://www.wowwiki.com/Expertise
It's not exact unless you get really mathematical with it.
TLDNR!TLDNR!
JUST READ IT OFF YOUR DAMN CHARACTER SHEET ALREAD!
It's never, ever added up right reguardless how many times I've tried, so I stopped trying.

Ya, and WoW rounds in wierd ways, so it will always come out slightly different on your character sheet. That's what wiki says in the expertise rating chart.
Find me 10 people who play video games who can do that math in their head.....

Ohh, I get what you're saying now, I agree with you in that regard -- the character sheet is trustworthy enough for almost every purpose. Anything that warrants more precision than the character sheet grants probably warrants tabbing out and looking up exact numbers and using a calculator of sorts.

8.1975 expertise rating = 1 expertise skill = 0.25% dodge/parry reduction (32.79 rating = 1% reduction)
When converting from left to right you devide, when converting from right to left you multiply.
PP = 10 expertise or 2.5% reduction leaving 16 expertise or 4% remaining.
16 * 8.1975 = 131.16 rating till dodge cap
same conclusion, different way of going about it.
4 * 32.79 = 131.16 rating till dodge cap
there're no fractions of a rating so the dodge cap with PP is 132 rating.
And please don't insinuate that I'm an @#$%^&* (referring to your little bolded remark) I try to remain civil dispite the Penny Arcade theory beckoning me.
