A bunch of really noobish questions

Hi guys,
First of all, let me start by saying that I've only been playing WoW for about three months. So forgive me if some of these questions are super noob-ish. I'm trying to get a better grasp of the nuances of the game.
My primary is a level 60 warlock (and no, I dont use lifetap at all :)) and I created a priest character because frankly I was sick of doing quests or going in dungeons with friends and never being able to find a reliable healer. That was less than a month ago, so I feel like I've levelled fast in comparison to how much knowledge of the class has grown. I seem to do a fairly good job of keeping my group alive. We very rarely wipe, and when we do its not usually my fault. (when its my fault, i admit it) If it happens, its usually due to a huge pull or a dps going crazy off to the side pulling additional mobs. I seem to be ok at the very basics but I feel like I'm missing all the important nuances that will make me a better player. I've done nothing but dungeons with my priest since about level 17ish. My priest is a level 42 holy priest now and I have a few questions about how to best play her.
My mana usage fluctuates wildly. I'm not sure if this is because of the low level that I'm at or if I'm a crappy healer or if I am getting crappy tanks through DF, but sometimes I run out of mana very, very fast. I was running through part of SM yesterday and only had to mana up once (right before the boss) and another time I had to make the group stop for mana at least a half dozen times. It seems as though this is directly correlated to the skill of the tank- if they are pulling medium sized mobs and holding aggro I go through very little mana, and if I'm in a mess of a group I burn through my whole mana bar almost every fight. I guess this point has two questions: number one- is this normal? And number two, if this is me just sucking, how can I prevent this from happening through gear, etc.... I have decent/good gear (all blue) for my level and have enchanted where I can (I'm tail/ench), so I'm not sure if/what I can do there. Any particular items you can recommend for my level?
As part of this same question, I know that a priest needs to have good intellect/spirit, but does having items with extra spell power help the priest a lot? (I know this is a super noob question, but I got conflicting answers from people on my server)
For glyphs I am using a glyph that expands radius/damage of holy nova and one that reduces the mana I use on buffs, but I feel like I might be able to improve here. However, when I check the AH I cant really see anything that I think would be more useful.
I keep seeing people mentioning haste on various boards and in various contexts and I'm uncertain how I can speed up my character/spellcasting, or if that's even possible at such a low level. Again, I have looked for the info (maybe in the wrong place?) but I need this explained to me.
Sorry for all the foolish questions, but most of the threads here and at the wow forum seem to be either regarding the particular talent tree or working higher level priests. Just trying to make myself a better player.
Thanks for any and all responses. :)

It's been a long time, but I recall having a lot more mana issues as a young Priest then I do now. I was always drinking after each encounter.
At 80, I still run into groups that can drain me of 35K mana in a single encounter, in particular, Champions in TOC5 Heroic.
Although there are tanks that require constant (chain healing) type attention, most often my mana issues are related to DPS. Too much DPS, standing in the poison, standing in the nova, not running away from whirlwind, etc.

people get impatient when I need to drink too much, though. I've grown to love pally tanks because they understand mana and stop at least a couple of times so i can refill. The other day I had a warrior tank who stopped while I was drinking mana then took off into a mob when my mana bar was about 80% full. I sprinted after him and healed him just before he died. After the battle, I was like "hey, i was drinking" to which one of the dps responded with something along the lines of 'yeah, but you were almost done, get over it" type of comment.
it seems like at this level everybody wants to sprint thru dungeons as fast as they can without dying just to level up. I understand that, but there's no point in being rude or needlessly putting the group in danger.
is the problem just the jerks i find through DF?
*edit* also, i get a lot of "i have a priest alt and i never had to drink that much'

Now that I have re-examined my gear, it looks like I do need a couple of upgrades. I'm levelling so fast (2-4 levels a day, depending) I guess I'm not keeping up the way I should. However, it seems like a huge money sink to spend a lot of money on gear to swap it out in 2 levels. here's the link to my character, i hope this is what you wantd:

*edit* also, i know i need new rings... but my old ones were crap.

I disagree with Disc talents after 60, the mp5 cut down on mana breaks so much I'd be surprised if I needed to drink more than once or twice.
This is the spec I used:
