Spriests don't have any spells that give dispel protection, it's best to dispell dots.

I think he meant dispel protection in the sense of spells that hurt to remove.
Edit: HDTISC. Looks like Cemi was wrong either way.
And yes, the spells Giez listed below me are why you keep Purify on your bars in PvP.

In a one on one environment these are the spells you want to hope not to cleanse. Sadly these spells are the first things cast by each class in attempts of makeing people wary of removeing magic.
Affliction Lock -
Unstable Affliction
and
Haunt
Spriest -
Vampiric Touch
*Note* Dispelling Vampiric Touch or Shadow Word: Pain will give the Spriest 15% of their base mana because of talents
Fire Mage -
Living Bomb
Haunt should be cleansed, if the lock doesn't have time to do damage while it's up he wont get healed. Also it increases shadow dot damage by 20%
Living bomb should be cleansed, it's going to blow either way. And the sooner you cleanse it the less damage you take from the DoT.
For the other examples, yes try not to cleanse them.

Edit: Svirve, surely the sooner you living bomb blows up the sooner it can be used again which is going to cause more damage than the dot would if you spam dispel it.
I'd love to see a mage spamming living bomb on me.
I would indeed get pwnt, but only by laughing so hard at him wasting a ton of mana (it costs 22% base mana) and doing damage which is about equal to a squirrels.

The heal from haunt is based on the damage done by haunt itself, not by other dots while haunt is active. So yes, haunt should probably be dispelled, but it will heal the caster when you do so.

Didn't it use to heal the lock for an amount equal to the damage of his shadow damage dots during the time it was up?
Could be me that has always misinterpreted the tool tip.

I'd rather it heal the caster for a little earlier on, than heal the caster for a lot after 12 seconds when it ends naturally.
