Well after thanksgiving I pretty much shifted all my time to my other chr. Now I want to get back to healing with this guy.
http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Echo+Isles&cn=Dracurse
His bracers need to be replaced first, then shoulders. I will start running heroics for some badges.
I was thinking about getting these things made and want your opinion.
Black Chitin Bracers <<<FIRST THING
Ensorcelled Nerubian Breastplate
I have most of the mats ( was going to make some druid stuff but )
I am not expecting to jump into ICC and kick butt but I want to work on him to get him ready.
PS>>>its been a while since I have played him and I wanted to ask one other thing about badges.
After reading some stuff on jerks they seem to only talk about T8 and T10 is T9 crap?

T9 set bonus just isn't very good. A 20 percent buff to riptide is borderline garbage, and 5 percent crit strike to Chain Heal is so-so, which means the set bonus just isn't worth passing on better stat items that fall at the same level. Plus elitistjerks.com only deals with BiS and nothing else.
Black Chitin Bracers are the best bracers possible pre-ICC 25, especially for the absolutely necessity of haste in every raid, and the Ensorcelled is as good as your t9.5, there are a few pieces better, but that would require steady heavy raiding and no other shaman in the raid. They only drop in 25 man raids.
Finally, you aren't nearly geared enough to heal ICC 10 even. I would put you borderline ToC if you have a 3 man healing team and they are studly. You have absolutely no haste, and that's not good at all. Your gear is mostly heroics, and you gemmed MP5 which is a no-no. Gem haste and spell-power, nothing else matters. Let your MP5 be handled by gear and raid buffs.
The other raiding resto shaman with me went MP5/spell power/crit. He out gears me and has nearly 300 more SP and about 4 percent more crit than me, but I have about 150 more haste. I can keep up with him no problem. At ICC 10/25 level, you need 25k plus mana there is no way around it.

got it. I was so worried about oom that I did whatever to make sure I never did.
The last time I played him we went to ony 10. Me and the warrior were the only ones left and I kept him up till we got tired LOL
I will start on more haste and sp. Right now I will mostly be doing LFD runs to get emblems for better gear.
How do you feel about the Ensorcelled Nerubian Breastplate...worth it ?

I did the work for you. When it comes right down to it you are trading a big chunk of crit for a socket (the rest of the stat differences are minor enough not to matter all that much). So you need to ask yourself if losing 72 crit rating is worth it at your gear level or not... for most resto shamans at decent or high gear levels crit is a throwaway stat but if you're still gearing up you might be low. You make the call. Just remember Thrall's only costs you your time grinding emblems where as the Breastplate takes your gold. Perhaps you should save it for the ICC crafted boots or legs... now those are some hot stuff.

The PvE resto guide will give you the general info you will need.
The more haste you get, the quicker you burn your mana pool. You will need more regen to keep going. Back during Naxx, you wanted 300+ mp/5 while casting with self buffs. I have 383 mana regen unbuffed while casting.
I still need a mojo flask on long ICC fights. Shaman can raid heal or main target heal. Main target healing takes more SP/crit/mp5. Raid healing depends more on haste and mp/5. Non-tanks do not tend to have massive HP pools, and a larger crit heal on them just means a better chance at over heals. Keeping one massive health pool alive vs a boss benefits more from a raw SP, and your procs that go with heals. Your crits reduce their damage received, and if you choose to spec into it, your HW overheals can also help the raid with talents.
For your gear.
Collect as much frost tokens as you can. Always do the weekly, and at least 1 random heroic per day. It will take time, but every one gets you closer awesome loot. Collect triumphs. Get either your t9 or the other badge loot. I do not pay too much attention to set bonuses, unless they are OP.
Once you can heal the ICC 5 mans, there are some items you may want from them. If you can get the battered hilt, make use of it. if not, do not pay for it.
You have your head enchant. Keep working SoH to exalted. Work on your LW or switch professions.
LW gives an awesome SP to bracers enchant. They do have some decent plans, but the bonuses may not be worth their weight.
If you want to look into the other professions, check out the professions forum here on wowhead.

Technically, you are giving up 45 mp5, 11 intellect, and 23 spell power if you gem with Haste/SP. I consider 45 mp5 to be much more conducive to healing than 72 crit (unless I am low on crit).
@omen, thanks for the explanation on itemization depending on what you are healing. I think the second Shaman healer is going to find himself tank healing now, while I switch to raid heals. Haste/MP5 is in my favor while SP/Crit is in his. Technically, he is a elemental shaman who heals on bosses that we need 7 healers for.

I am assuming all 20 haste gems as most shamans do not bother gemming for SP as it doesn't scale as well as haste.
Anyway, I would actually value crit above mp5 in terms of regen due to
http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=16198
and of course int is the best regen stat by far due to replenishment. I have not specifically looked for any gear with mp5 since Nax and have never ran into mana issue, so I think it's safe to say it's about as valuable now as looking for gear with spirit on it.
I am not saying that chest isn't better than our T9 I'm simply saying it's probably better to save money and get the ICC gear crafted as it's not that big of an upgrade considering what you really get. This is of course assuming you're not going for max gear score...

well thank you for the comparison on the 2 chest pieces. Yep I think my thinking was I can get started again with just a crafted chest piece and oh its 245 so it HAS to be awesome.
In every (few) 10 man I was always the raid heal and I thought I did a very good job or it, shield on tank of course
I was looking at the icc normal and heroics for some gear to get going and I feel that I can heal normals with no problems but I dont' think I can heal the heroics, a lot of burst damage.
what do you think? ps if I am pressed for healing should I make sure and drop healing over mana totems at all times?
as far as enchants and rep rewards. I looked at some of my gear at that time and said why pay $$$ for a gem or enchant that I am going to replace next few days. Maybe I was wrong but at that time it was the way I did it.
ps my druid is Exalted with everyone so I can now get him Item Enhancements and a tabard for some rep while grinding.
========================
I leveled as enh and it was fun (weapon drops held me back a LOT) after 80 I even tried ele and it was fun, but 2400DPS was not a big whoopie LOL at that time I was just messing with it and never went for big gear drops or rewards.
Since this is a mail item chr I wanted to ask in ICC 5 mans is it ok to roll need on mail if I am only mail user even thought it might be enh gear?
Sorry I have never been a loot $%^&* and won't start now.
(we have several in the guild) one shaman even rolled need on a sword after several tanks shouted ALL RIGHT just what I need.

Shamans can't use swords. You should be able to heal heroics no problem. You can heal heroics once you hit 80 with the level of gear that most tanks have now it's not even a worry. I roll on everything that I need that's mail, even if there is a hunter. It's a heroic, and no one cares usually. Plus most people won't worry about it because you are healing, so they aren't going to fight you over gear, because it may not be your main spec.
My offspec is enhance and it's my questing spec so I roll on all mail dps gear as well.

Eleazer that is what I was thinking. I know when the new expansion hits I will be back to enh for questing. I need to up my gear for that.
I am going to try some LFD tonight. Man its been 2 months since I played him. I hope I can remember how to heal.

well last night was interesting. I did a few heroics to get back to healing and it was easy.
So I put in LFD and hit normal forge and pit. Again I didn't have any problem healing them. (NORMAL) although I did see that after ick I was down about 30% mana. Then they ran straight up the hill to the first group and after that I was at 60%. Ran to next group and I was at 50%. So mana regen will be something I will have to watch in heroic ICC 5 mans.
I did upgrade the shield and got some enh bracers. Plate was falling so fast I think 2 bosses died to it :)
Of course I forgot to turn in the quest in the middle of the instance and could not go to HOR.
