If you're pulling threat you need to throw in a soul shatter. Normally I'm the only Lock in raids so I need to cast CoE on all the targets. This gives enough time for the tank to build up threat so I can spam Seed of Corruption and not pull. Optimally you'd want to use it just before you pull to maximize its effectiveness, but if you pull off the tank you'll probably screw the raid so that's just as bad. Why are you using Curse of Agony and not Curse of Elements or Doom? Curse of Agony doesn't do much damage in the first few ticks so if the mobs are dropping fast it'll do almost no damage and you're better off just throwing an extra SB in there. Doom is more useful for bosses where it'll be alive for the minute required to do damage.
Elements is far more useful for the entire raid if nobody else is casting it though.

for aflliction you should be spamming soc on trash not throwing shadowbolts, and CoA beats out CoD due to talents buffing CoA.

Marginally now that the glyph is removed...but it does buff Drain Soul during execute, which is significant as well.

they shouldn't actually overwrite it (knock our debuff off) since CoE does more than just the damage debuff. another lock's CoE will push ours off though.
if you're in a pug raid and don't want to have to talk to the scum puggers (j/k, honest) then get your CoE up quick and if it gets pushed off then you know you're safe to use CoD.

Point of clarification. Marginally is the key here Merf. We cast CoA because it
is better
. Even if oyu were casting CoD, during execute you have more than enough affliction buffs up that you don't need to count the curse to reach our 3 max for improved drain (corr, UA, haunt, SE).
Damn, I do tend to forget about that. I even remember beign excited about it because I remember telling myself to not even re-cast it during DS anymore...which I obvioulsy had forgotten and continue to waste the GCD doing.
Maybe I'll remember now? Doubt it...stupid muscle memory...
Of course, the real issue here is how much our curses SUCK.
