AVG works fine, just have to disable Linkscanner if you use the wowhead client.

When it comes to 64bit, it is not necessary to have 64bit applications. only time you need a 64bit software is for drivers such as video and sound. You will not find a true 64bit Virusscanner and firewall, all are 32bit.
I run Windows 7 Professional 64bit, with AVG and Comodo, and have never had a problem with WoW or Wowhead.

Kaspersky has full win7 x64 support, and is arguably one of the best anti-virus clients ever developed :P
edit:
For the record, I
have
had issues with AVG x64 and windows 7. It just fails to find a lot of things for me for some reason.

Tho Kaspersky says it is 64bit, it is not. Complicated to explain, just know the program iself is only 32 bit but has the capability to work on a 64 bit system.
As for AVG, if it is set correctly, it will find everything. I have never had one problem with it missing anything.

A friend who works for a computer company told me to drop AVG, because many of AVG's sponsors are actually hacker organizations, which sponsor AVG specifically to make it more popular, as they know how to pass by it or hide from it. I didn't waste any time in picking up MSE in its place.
I'm actually not sure if she's right, but MSE did pick up some things that AVG didn't.
Well, im sorry to say, your friend either doesn't know what hes talking about or is a lier. Don't spread rumors. I personally know TWO developers on the AVG team, and that rumor has been going around since its creation. The fact is, no Antivirus program is 100% hack-proof. but no, AVG does not employ hackers, never has, never will. They are dedicated to the protection of systems.
And why would you use MSE? The system you are likely useing is Microsoft. If anyone wanted to do harm, it would be Microsoft easily since they own almost all systems on the market with their OS
Also. a Hacker has nothing to do with AntiVirusGuard. The hacker still needs to get past a Firewall, which is not normally included in the AVG package unless you specifically get the internet security. Most people have their own separate firewall. Therefor a Hacker can not do anything. As i said, it may miss some viruses, but most antivirus programs dont catch everything. The only way a computer with a decent firewall can get infected is by user stupidity. Which is why i use Comodo firewall, Windows Firewall, and a hardware firewall with my router.

Whether it takes advantage of 64bit addressing or not is irrelevant though. Only it's capability to detect and prevent threats matters.
Anyway, some benchmarks:

According to that independent study, kaspersky has a roughly 15% better detection rate than AVG does when detecting new malware.
Just some more food for thought.
