I wanted to know how long it would take most people to do covers of their songs? How do you do that?
P.S. I am 14 years old, is that too late to become good at an instrument?
Being able to do a cover varies by the difficulty of the song and your playing ability. Being able to play one well could take anywhere from a couple of hours to a couple of days. At your level, I would say try looking up a song that you enjoy that sounds easy and practice that for about a week (unless it interferes with your regular practice).
To play songs without sheet music is called being able to play by ear. It takes awhile to develop, at least it did for me.
And I don't think 14 is too late to get good. So long as you practice enough you can get pretty good in a couple of years.

I had a friend who hammered out the Duke Nukem theme on guitar. I even learned the beginning of it, it's so awesome.
That took him - I want to say - around a week or two, but it is a fairly simple piece of music.
