IMO, there are no lore sources which say what she's thinking. But I certainly don't think
all
forsaken are evil. She may just be looking for revenge, or she may be a mass murderer. Nobody knows...yet.

She's pure crazy evil, but her people aren't.

She's pure crazy evil, but her people aren't.
Everyone has motives. What's seems crazy might have a nobel goal behind it. Sylvanas want the Lich King dead, seems well enough.
Of course, her actions leading towards the matter are a bit... debatable.

After the stuff Arthas did to her.... no way in hell is she even anything resembling sane anymore.

Undebateably true. But there's still the ranger part of her in her soul, like the good Arthas in the Lich King.
But she is crazy, no denying that.

If by genius you mean she created something that could kill even the dead..... and we still have no idea who the original targets of it were going to be.... then maybe.

Has Sylvanas performed evil acts? Uh, yes. That's not without question. Anyone saying otherwise needs to get their head checked.
Well, would you take a look at that sentence again? Are you sure you mean I need to get my head checked? I certainly think it is unquestionable that she has committed evil acts.
That, however, isn't the question we have to answer : It's "Is Sylvanas, herself, evil?" I personally don't believe so. Committing evil acts is not the same as being evil itself. As I've said : She's not a nice person. Not at all. However, her "evil" is committed to the survival of the Forsaken - and she will spare nothing for this to happen. This shows that she still cares about certain people.
What is your definition of an evil person, then? Do such people exist? Emotion shows a level of humanity, and all humankind are driven by emotion. I can accept, on a philosophical level, that no humans are evil, but merely misguided, misunderstood, outright stupid, or otherwise driven to commit evil. But this is not the real world.
Evil does exist in Warcraft. That it has a backstory may make it tragic, but we're still going to go stomp on them and get phat lewts. This is acceptable (even good) because they're evil, and we're good.
Whether Sylvanas has any sentimental emotions towards the Forsaken is hard to tell for sure. I think it's perfectly plausible to say that she needs them for a tool, and will use them as such. However one answers that question, she may have pangs of emotion towards her former life and those who suffer like she does. This does not make her any less evil. Knowing what you're doing is wrong and doing it anyway could be said to be evil.
I think Sylvanas is evil. As I've said before in this thread: Her motives are selfish, her methods sadistic, and her end goal is the destruction of life. This, in my book, makes you evil. And thank Blizzard that we can actually make characters that have an in-game storyline that shows they are evil.

And in the end it's still all based on point of view...for example: A general who pillaged and killed and entire city of his people's enemies would likley be seen as a hero by his people.
Where as the remaining people of the city or that Culture would view him as a barbaric demon who slaughtered their people in cold blood...even though they would have likley done the same.
same senario if you flip who recives what and who dishes it out...it is all based on perspective.

If you've ever done the necklace quest in the Blood Elf area, you know that the proper description of Sylvanas is "conflicted". There is a small part of her that remembers her old life, and feels tremendous sadness for what happened to her.
That sadness feeds an enormous rage, so great and loud that it drowns out any sort of moral qualms she might have with her actions. She hates the Lich King, she hates the Scourge, and I'm sure there's a part of her that hates the living in general out of pure spite and jealousy. An epic questline to redeem her after the Lich King falls would be awesome, but I doubt it'll ever happen.

I am still waiting for a Windrunner reunion. However, I agree with your post.
