Zombie Invasion?

caused the event to be cut short.
Everything I've ever seen suggests that the event was held for exactly as long and in exactly the manner it was intended.

All through this thread the assumption has been "The QQers ruined it for everyone because they spammed the forums with whining, and then the event just suddenly stopped."
I was basing my comments on this premise. If it is incorrect, my apologies.

when i first begun the game i did this little thingy called research. ya know, when you actually don't press a random class while you just saw the best looking race (although at the end i prefered belfs) but you actually start the game with some minor knowledge.
Not saying that yo must know by heart all the places but looking a bit before you go inside the game doesn't hurt either

When I first started the game, I read the (extremely outdated) handbook and looked over the abilities and whatnot of each class before picking one.
I talked with my refer-a-friend who referred me about what different classes do.
NONE of that would have in any way prepared me to log in to a zombie war zone as a level one, and dying every time I logged in. I picked a PVE server because that is my choice of preferred playstyle. I don't know if I would have chosen to continue paying for game time in a game that prevented me from playing, and forced me to PVP against my preference and against their own description of the realm I chose.
Yes, Blizzard has the right to alter the game play at any time, etc. etc.
I have the right to not spend my money on their product if it doesn't reasonably meet my expectations, or live up to their description of the service they claim to provide.

All of you realize you aren't going to change each others minds right?
If you had fun..you had fun. I think it was great but the game did grind to a screeching halt with regards of the day to day. and yes lowbies we just tiny speed bumps to rampaging mobs of lvl 70 zombies.
If you were furious and had an awful time then that was your experience and I can fully sympathize. I can also understand why you would not want such an event to ever occur again.
We are all different and our personalities are all different which is the great difference between any MMORPG and say MGS4 or FFT.
In real life we encounter those who like things to be safe and consistent. That is a perfectly valid point of view. Then there are those who relish the idea of screaming while jumping out of a helicopter on a snowboard over K2. Perfectly valid as well.
Viv la differance.
Try not to be an a$$ about it and ridicule anyone who disagrees with your point of view.

Even while your toon is dead you can still monitor chat channels and and ask/whisper other players as to what is happening in the game
"You can't chat while you're dead!"
At least, that's the message I recall seeing when I tried to ask someone something. Am I misremembering?
All of you realize you aren't going to change each others minds right?
There's a difference between agreeing with someone else's point and being able to comprehend it.
I totally understand why some people would think this event was the best thing to happen in game. I also understand why some people would hate it.
But there are several people in the thread who just don't seem to be able to understand the other side of things. And that inability to grasp even the most basic information just... baffles me. So I've tried to explain one side or the other a few times. Not trying to convince people, simply explain the differing points.

i understand why people might have hated it. I am merely stating some options that the players had

I think the frustration comes in where people basically say:
"The zombie event was the BEST thing EVER to happen in WoW and if you thought it had any negative aspects it's just because you are____ (a wimp, whiny, like to QQ, etc. etc.). And people who didn't want to be griefed during the event should have known to go do ______ (log off and eat the cost of the game time they purchased, quest somewhere else that may or may not have been just as zombie infested on their server, etc.)."
A lack of any empathy for someone who is just learning the game, did NOT choose to be immersed in PVP, and wouldn't have reasonably known other zones or options is troubling.
I realize many people liked the event. It wasn't my favorite, but it didn't completely ruin my game experience for the duration. I DID breathe a big sigh of relief when it ended. I have no interest in changing anyone's mind, just find it a challenge to attempt to communicate a different viewpoint to those who seem to lack the ability to process empathy on this topic.

Hehe, it's funny.
"OMG BLIZZ THIS GAME IS GETTING TOO EASY"
(Insert 3 days of zombie madness here where more was required than Googling up which buttons to press)
"WTF BLIZZ NERF!"

Frankly, my opinion is a large number of the players who enjoyed the Zombie event did so because it allowed them to grief players on their own faction; something that normally, the game doesn't allow. In basic terms, these players got the greatest enjoyment by ruining the game for other people.
If the zombies had been real zombies...if the players had lost control of their characters after the infection had run its course and been forced to log off and log back on to find out where their corpse was... I doubt it would have been much fun for them. (Although it would have been a far more realistic protrayal of the Scourge attack.)
This opinion is highly invalid. If we wanted to grief players, we would sit in their starter spots, sit afk with pvp on and wait for them to take a whack at you. We enjoyed raiding our own content because we can't usually do it.

Just because *YOU* didn't use it to grief other players constantly
does not mean it didn't happen
.
What does it take to get that point across?
Your server may or may not have been typical of what was happening on all servers.
What you saw in the areas of your server you frequented during the event may or may not have been typical of what was going on in areas you did not visit during the event.
People were being griefed, camped, and harassed during the event. Just because you personally weren't the one doing it doesn't mean nobody did it.
You don't get to decide whose opinion is "invalid" or not. You get to express a dissenting opinion if you so choose, however calling another opinion "invalid" reduces your overall credibility, and does nothing to validate your own points.

Listen up buddy, try to read my posts and understand them before posting bull crap about them. I am on one of the most vile, most populated servers out there, the main server for Europe.
Aszune.
There camping wasn't really a problem. And, as I stated in the post you posted crap about, we can grief anyone even outside of the zombie event. You will literally be amazed at how those level ones take a whack at you.
TL;DR, World of Warcraft always did camp, and the zombie event didn't make much difference.
