and (cough) wow cant be played with a joystick? hmm, i wonder what i got in my hands, dpsing in normal UK. At higher levels i might not be able to use the joystick, but now i am and im enjoying wow as much as i never have done before.
Oh I see. You wanted to argue over semantics? Ok then.
WoW cannot be played PROPERLY at HIGH LEVELS using a joystick.
de80well i tried to search after the answear, all i found was 20 websides trying to give me a nude picture of a woman.
No, no you didn't.
Google > WoW Joystick > WoWwiki. No nude women. So yeah, it kind of looks like you made more work for yourself by making this thread, since there's a multitude of answers from reputable sites.
When you're main healing End Game using a controller, feel free to come back with video in hand.

Bind macros to all your buttons, macros like this:
#showtooltip
/cast Spell 1
/cast Spell 2
/cast Spell 3
/cast Spell 4
Then (at least on my controller software, forget what one I used to use) bind the following sort of thing to your D-Pad
Dpad down = release last Dpad if pressed(can be substituted for release all Dpad buttons if your controllers macro software doesn't support it,) press Ctrl
Dpad left = release last Dpad if pressed, press Alt
Dpad right = release last Dpad if pressed, press Shift
Dpad up = release last Dpad if pressed
This will give you cast "sets" so your common rotation on like the nomod of the 8 buttons and situational spells on the others.
Whats even better is that since the #showtooltip is in there, when you press the Dpad your entire bar will change to show what spells you have on them, then you can name those macros with like A, B, X, Y, LShould, LBump, RShould, RBump to help you know what spells are on what. You can even use a bar mod to orient them to where they physically are on your controller.
With the face buttons and the shoulders this effectively gives you get four sets of eight buttons, use your left joystick for movement and your right for mouse x/y. Click the right joystick for right click. Click left joystick for left click. Start is Esc and Select reset the mouse to the middle of the screen. I forget whatever else I had bound, my controller actually had six face buttons and six shoulder buttons so I had four action bars worth of button sets. However, I sacrificed two spells on my shoulder button (left and right shoulder nomod) to cycle through targets very quickly.
I was raiding with it and doing very well, no one would have known I was using a controller.
By combining elements of your controllers macro software, specifically keystroke emulation, keybindings, in game macros and your UI this can become very very possible. You can even bind a push-to-talk key to your controller and just use vent to eliminate typing.
Oh, and ignore everyone here that tells you you can't play WoW with a controller, I've done it. When I first set out to do it, they told me that too. ^&*! 'em

WoW cannot be played PROPERLY at HIGH LEVELS using a joystick. where did you read that? and if you didnt please stop saying it cant.
and try to seach after : how to make pictures on forums and such, well thats what i did and got 20 links of websites with nude woman wallpapers.
and can we please stop arguing? we two yelling at eachother isnt acctually making this thread better.
It's fact. WoW end game is not made for controllers. Stop trying to make it seem like it's a great idea. It's not nearly as effective as mouse/keyboard. You can. Feel free. Don't be stunned when you notice how ineffectual you are though.
And you don't know how to use google? Do you need to have someone hold your hand through the internet? Go to google, and put in WoW controller. TA DA! Success! Not hard.
Sure, we can stop arguing. Soon as you stop trying to make a point that's completely irrelevant and inane.

This thread is pretty ridiculous.
"I play wow with a joy pad"
"YOU CANT!"
"What? I do..."
"NO NO YOU CANT DO THAT. Google it. Youll see you cant do that".

And dont you know how to read? i didnt need help with the controller, i wanted help getting pictures these forums.
And yes, WoW isnt made for controllers and are ineffective, but isnt clicking in PvP the same way? maybe some people like to do that and look at CrypTecH, he have done it and done it well, just like the others. And now we have argued to much, if you want to hate on me more please make a new thread about how much you hate me, Please.
Listen Pumpkin. You were rambling about a controller in relation to WoW. Look at your first post. Your "clicking in PvP" statement makes no sense either. Furthermore, your missing words from your sentences, so it's difficult to understand what exactly it is you're trying to convey.
WoW + Controllers = Don't mix. Let it go. Just how it is. WoW is a PC game, best played with a Keyboard and Mouse.
As far as "hating" you goes? Why would I waste energy hating someone over the internet that can't convey a point. I've much better people to hate than that.

This topic has inspired me to re-immerse myself in WoW with a controller, I set out yesterday after my post to do it again. I couldn't find my 6 button controller :( so I'm forced to use my Logitech Dual-Action (Essentially the same as a PS2 controller.) Because of this I had to make some adjustments to my control scheme from the 6 button, as you can see, the D-pad is no longer used for modifiers.
Here is my setup, it's currently on my hunter I'm leveling because I didn't want to cripple any of my raiders if I couldn't figure it out. Maybe once I get used to the buttons again I'll put it back on my raider, I see a lot of potential with it on my Lock.
http://i33.tinypic.com/15881p2.jpg
The buttons at the bottom of mu UI change depending on what shoulder button I'm holding with a maximum of 32 immediately available skills, with the use of some clever macros the functionality of these 32 skills can be extended indefinitely. These buttons are
not click-able
and function purely as a guide to what skills are currently active on my pad so I can keep track of my modifiers. I used Bartender4 for this, when I did this before I used Flexbar, but it has since been abandoned :(
As far as mouse and character movement it focus around what I'm calling two different "modes," mouse mode and enhanced movement mode.
The controller is in "mouse mode" by default, in this mode movement is controlled from the left side of the game pad and mouse function from the right, it functions like using WASD and a mouse.
When R1 is held it switches to "enhanced movement mode" where the left control stick controls forward, back and strafe where the right control stick is pitch and yaw. Mouse control is eliminated and the cursor disappears from the screen. All skills are still usable by hitting the buttons and modifiers as per normal. This is the equivalent to using hot keys combined with a third person shooter control scheme and auto-aiming (targeting.)
Targeting is controlled with the right center button used to cycle through targets L1+that button cycles backwards through targets.
L1,L2,R2 are all modifiers for buttons 1-8 these three modifiers combined with the default setting give me my 32 skills.
I have different skill sets loaded into Bartender4 and can swap between them in an instant with the use of a macro depending on what I'm doing (The current skillset you see is for AoE grinding.)
The biggest thing I'd like to stress with this setup is since everything relies on hotkeys, it is as efficient (if not more) as playing with keyboard and mouse. The only limitation with the controller is you can't click on different things consistently fast, however, you shouldn't be a clicker anyway. Mouse should be used mainly for movement, skills should be activated with hotkeys.

Listen Pumpkin. ...
Why do you feel the need to burst into the thread and be so combative? It's entirely unnecessary. The guy wasn't asking for help on how to use a controller, he's already doing so. He asked two questions: if anyone else was using a controller, and if someone could point him in the direction of how to post pictures online. Did either of these really warrant insults and a tirade about how ineffective and impossible playing with a controller is?
This is the reason we can't have nice things around here anymore. Everyone wants to prove they're better, smarter, and more awesome than everyone else.
...
To the OP, I've heard of people using controllers before, though I've never been able to picture exactly how they would do so. It's an interesting set up you've got there. I have no doubt you could make it just as effective as a keyboard with judicious use of macros and modifier keys. It's really no different than having everything keybound on a normal keyboard, is it? Just kind of a funny shaped one.
The only drawback I can see would be that you'll be stuck "keyboard turning" in PvP due to the lack of mouse. Unless the sticks work just as well for moving around?

The sticks do indeed work well for movement, hence why I call it "enhanced movement mode" :P I'm currently trying to upload a video to utoob to show it in action but my computer is being evil >:-[
