Or will a castrandom work for backstab/sinister strike?
I am trying to reduce the number of keys I have bound. So I want to overlap sinister strike and backstab, using the later if its valid else Sinister strike.
Currently I am still trying to determine a rotation for a 41/5/xx build (only 62) now.

Thank you.
I never used a mutilate build and no one in guild or out of guild who is anything but combat to reference. So its just Mutilate to build points then a finisher?
Are there preferred finishers at 62? Should I even consider envenom? For big targets is it still eviscerate? I hate playing a class wrong so if I should wear the dunce cap please give me hints about how to it right.

best way to lvl easily
start by sap, pickpocket, (if you want to raise your skill to 400...) then cheap shot, mutilate, evicerate, go to next mobs
lvling =\= raiding.

I read in another thread to ditch both ss and bs.
So, what about SND? any place in a boss fight (yeah, still trying to do instances)

Remember, 41/5/25 is the pvp mutilate build. Not sure if that is what you meant, but if you are doing PvE, you would use the 51/13/7 as mentioned by the good captain. I am only at lvl 36 of the pvp build, so I haven't done the pve one. I believe the rotation is to garrote (not 100% sure on the opener), SnD, muti to 5 combo points, then envenom. Envenom refreshes SnD (either through glyph or talent, not sure). muti to envenom repeats until I think you use evis when the boss is almost dead. One of the stickies has the rotation.
I think Captain Obvious..he he he was relying on the fact that the words boss fight, and do instances were used in the op question.
Also opener, HfB is arguably the first or seccond move after garrote with SnD being the other because it is a flat bonus to all damage thereafter.

Wearing dagger in MH i find a cheap shot waste in PvE and most of the times in PvP. Ambush does damage.

Well in BGs the last thing I want is for them to actually be able to do anything. I find that the majority of BG players don't have trinkets to get them out (mid 60s range here). I make sure to stay on cloth wearers near my level if possible hitting plate/others only when someone else has some of their attention. Won't be till 65 till I have a better chance in 61-70 and even then not till 67 to where I become dangerous, so I do my best to keep my opponent from being dangerous to me.
I am using this 41/5/xx spec in both BG and leveling. I have gotten it down to...
CS + Mut + KP + Mut then use SND if they are less than 5% so I have it for next mob or spin up another mut/finisher.
I am just trying to make sure I do it efficiently for leveling and BG/Instances. I may dual spec into a 51/x/x build for instance/leveling. I do not want to fall back to combat builds just to level - though they do make handling pairs a lot easier.

Ambush is a valid option, but, i prefer cheap shot while leveling for lesser downtime.
with CS > Mut - > Evicerate you almost never get hit
i'm not a big fan of ambush since all the nerf it got. I remember in vanilla you could 1 shot mobs/clothies with a good dagger. I remember crit arount 3.5 K at lvl 60...
