I didnt like Thousand Needles either, and Ashenvale is pretty bad, but I had a lot of fun in Stranglethorn Vale. I got ganked a little, but it was fun pvping. That's where I got most of my kills. If I saw Horde around my level eating and recouperating, I would come up behind and get them, then run away before he/she called their friends, lol.

I don't like borean tundra. It's ugly. Howling fjord ftw. Too bad the first blue item quest is in borean.
I also don't care much for durotar/barrens or undead starting zone.

5). Icecrown: It's just horrible to be flying around in, too morbid.
4). Westfall: Constant yellowness leaves me strangely lost, and annoyed...
3). Azshara: Too much water...
2). Barrens: Hard to predict where the level of the NPC's go up because it's so big and monotonous.
1). Duskwood: I hated as a low level how that constant path has a million nasties lurking just off it, you can't walk anywhere in this zone without something latching on to you and Dazing you as you leg it.

5: Blasted Lands. It looks okay. It was actually fun when demons were invading before TBC. Also fun raiding Doom Lord Kazzak when he was there. Now they took him away, and there is nothing interesting left.
4: Zangarmarsh. The first time was okay. I mean, there are mushrooms...and more mushrooms. And then there is water!
3: Desolace. I remember questing there once, and it was "fun". Like the feeling when you buy something new. Then I forgot why I enjoyed it, and now it is just a place filled with the most boring quests in the world. The centaur quests are okay I guess.
2: Alterac Mountains. ...Whats to do there? Half snow, half green nothing. Only visited once a year (Christmas)
1: Ashenvale. It looks beautiful. It is filled with lore. The quests couldn't be more dull. For horde, it is okay. For Alliance, I can't wait till the change in the next expansion.

1. Eastern/Western Plaguelands
Very depressing. And questing here brings back horrible memories of farming thorium. Very depressing.
2. Duskwood
Most of the quests are completed on the other side of the zone from where you get them and hand them in. I'm sure it's not as bad now since you basically have a 60% mount right out of the box.
3. Howling Fjord
Borean Tundra4life! I get up to the quest inside the cave with the elekks you have to raise your hand at and I just get bored and hearth.
4. Icecrown
Terrible for farming what with all the herbs guarded by 17 elite undeads and the mining isn't that much better. Save your time and energy and head to the Storm Peaks so you can start farming Hodir rep
5. Desolace
Not too great for questing OR grinding, unless you head to the northernmost part; there's quite a lot of humanoids that spawn there for ample cloth/exp at a decent rate
6. The Twilight Grove
wtf?

I hate:
1. Thousand Needles: Bland, boring, everything looks exactly alike, and it's just annoying in general. Has my favorite quest EVAR though.
2. The Barrens: See 1, but subtract the favorite quest and add a bunch of newbs talking about Chuck Norris, and getting drawn into the mediocrity that is Wailing Caverns.
3. Ashenvale: Even with 60%, or even 100% mounts, the zone is still exceedingly large, not to mention monotonous and extremely boring.
4. Hillsbrad Foothills: On my server, this IS the zone for world pvp. Or, well, it used to. Either way, I have horrible memories of farming for Helcular's Rod not once, twice, but three times.
5. Eversong Woods: Ugh. Where to begin? You'll get quests on one end that force you to run all the way across the zone, then run back, and back again, and back and forth, and... GAH. >:(
6. Howling Fjord: Never really liked it too much. I like everything up until you leave Vengeance Landing, and go to New Agamand. Then it just gets... bleh.
Surprisingly enough, my favorite zones in old world are Eastern and Western Plaguelands. I just love the lore behind them, I guess.

1. The Hinterlands

Desolace - because of that stinkin centaur quest chain that sends you halfway around the freakin world...
Hilllsbrad - between Southsore/Tarren Mill is under attack! and being ganked by bored high levels of the opposite faction.....
Tanaris - nothing like fighting through miles of sand dunes
Barrens - for having to ride half the length of the world each and every single quest :P
that's really the pick of the bunch for me tbh

5. Western Plaguelands. Was the only zone I constantly died in due to heavily grouped up mobs...
4. Terokkar Forest. The birds....the goddamned birds...
3. Desolace. Although my opinion might change in Cataclysm...
2. Tirisfal Glades. It's a depressing zone...and it has Scarlet Crusade members.
1. Icecrown. It's so damn laggy and really looks like a repeat of Mordor.
