I don't see what people keep on talking about being runic power starved...I am currently level 65, leveling DW Frost (which btw is very OP at my level...I'm pulling 600 dps normally and around 850 on long fights), and after the first rotation, I usually have enough RP to use FS about twice, and after that my bar fills up even more, it rarely drops down to empty.
um, I hate to break it to you, but 600 dps at your level is pretty poor. I was doing around 1k pre-Northrend and alot more once I got to Northrend. Runic Starvation happens quite a bit once you get to raiding due to the mechanics of raid situations/buffing, miss chances, and so on. You must also remember that one of the keys to runic power usage is that we never want it to empty and never want it to fill this can cause some rather strenuous circumstances including trying to get a FS out during a KM Proc, or a Rime/KM HB shot, and not have it totally wreck havoc with your rotation.

@neocrimson - There are several reasons as to why you saw a dps loss. They are as follows: Hardly any expertise, the worst possible trinket for Frost DW, and no armour pennetration all 3 of those are huge for frost dps and don't really matter much for unholy.

You need better gear mainly. I wouldn't gem expertise and hit, but I also wouldn't ungem what you have done to gem correctly . You should be fine, but unholy is less gear dependent than Frost DW so you will need to gear up a bit more.

Thank you for your reply Eleazer. I was hoping you would, considering your knowledge of DKs. I tried your rotation and it works much better. So thank you again.

@biohazardd - Put the subtlety enchant on your cloak it reduces your threat by 2 percent per swing. It was the enchant of choice for all dps hogs in BC. I am pretty sure it will work for you. The downside of 0/53/18 is that your threat is huge right up there with hunters and locks, but while they have threat dumps you don't. So Subtlety to clock hopefully will help out and allow you to keep a consistent rotation without having to stop.
@NeoCrimson - there is a reason there are threat reductions in dps builds for every dps out there. Because dps build threat at a faster rate than tanks do. I have trouble with locks, and mages who don't use their aggro wipes from time to time on a long boss fight. In fact we have 2 excellent tanks (they are better than me even! NO WAY not possible!) who have trouble with holding threat on dps who don't spec into threat reductions.

Ive found going beyond 8% hit to not make all that much difference. Strength was still slightly better. I am at the expertise cap.

There is a diminishing return after untalented 8 percent, but you must remember that an untalented 8 percent is actually a talented 11 percent melee and a talented 14 percent spell hit. This is key, however there is still a nice rate of increase until you reach about 10-12 percent untalented hit - however after 8 percent untalented I wouldn't gem for it unless you find you are missing alot. I missed 56 times during ToC 10 man last night with barely over 8 percent hit. This didn't make me happy, but it's a decent return.
I am going to respec tonight and try out the 53/18 spec to see. How bad the aggro production really is, and then will get the subtlety enchant to see how much of an aid it can be.

OK iv specced the 53/18 spec as my offspec and have the ironforge smasher and the ebon blade sword, FC on main RI on my off hand, i haven't properly tried out the spec yet as i have still to level the weapon skills ( yea im a bit of a slack tbh lol ) but from the above posts just to clear things up with my current gear
http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-talents.xml?r=Blade%27s+Edge&n=Zzeeuuss&group=1
( which is gemmed, glyphed etc for my unholy build ) the main aim is to reach the hit and expertise caps over str? so instead of gemming for str gem for hit and exp?
bit of a stupid question but im totally new to frost and would just like to clear it up =]
keep up the good work on the thread btw ;)
