Your playing a game where the common rational is close to 15 years old.
15 year old here. I only flame people in Trade as:
1. A joke (Usually friends, guild mates), or
2. I know them badly (Ninja looters, jerks I've run with/seen. Yes I'm looking at the guy paying 400g over my 350g for Loque spotting so they can kill rather than me tame).
Regardless, I give them the information whenever they ask for something I can answer. I'm usually the FIRST to do so. You can't judge someone just because "lol hes 12 he cant be mature", or "hey a 30 yr old theyll be fine".
As for the topic at hand... It's just something people do I suppose. They find it funny to put someone else down and act high and mighty in those situations.

This is my first post, just signed up my WoWHead account yesterday. I've come here for help, and to read the forums, but I've been terrified of posting anything in fear of being flamed or being called a noob or whatever... Plus, I've just never really been all that great at the game, so I don't feel I'm in any position to give people advice. I'm one of those dreaded "clickers" <gasp>. But I don't think I'd ever post a question on this site. I have enough people being mean to me IRL. I don't need to come online for something that I enjoy only to have more people being rude. Granted, some of the posters I read seem like cool peeps. Hey cool peeps, what's up? You can call me Cam.

Welcome to the site! Granted there will be those that call you a noob, there are
plenty
of the users here who will not. As for being terrified to post... Well just remember. The flamers are putting you down anonymously. Over the internet. Just remember the thought of them sitting in their underwear and laughing at you as they reach for a bag of chips and thinking of more insults to make themselves seem better. It's sad.
And for not being able to give advice? I was once in your position too. And the clicker type. As a matter of fact I was *GASP* rolling on Strength gear as a Hunter!
We've all been down the road to beginning somewhere. Everything will just sink in as you come along. :D

1 it gets old to see "when is the next WG battle" when you can check to see when it starts no mater what zone you in from the map. Yes even in ironforge or orgimar. To do so you right click on your map to make it expand your selection areas untill you can see northrend, now you click on northrend, and then click on winter grasp. Wow look you can see the time the next battle will start.
Uhh mate, have you actually ever tried doing this? I think you will find that the timer only shows on your map if you are in Northrend...
