EluraE, you're supposed to feel your parents are above you while you're a young kid. Until you get out of your mindset of serving only yourself and can consider what it takes for your parents to do what you want them to, they have to put themselves above you and make you do what they feel is best. Now, when you're older, and you really understand what your parents are feeling, then you can talk with them on a level field.
That's why teenagers are considered so unruly - they THINK they know what their parents are thinking, yet they still only want what's best for themselves

I don't need to know what they're thinking, I don't WANT to know what they're thinking.
There is NO excuse.
It's the worst way of parenting, if you need your kids to listen, then be crazy and yell at them like you're in the army and they're you soldiers. But don't %^&*ing touch them.
I heard a rumor that when a kid isn't listening, yelling at them more makes them listen somehow magically.

Yeah. But not because they hit or even punish you. Because they are older and more experienced, and know what's better for you. If they can't get this across to you without resorting to striking you, they're doing something wrong.

If anyone holds a grudge for 10 years for being spanked when they're little and then tries to get revenge on their parents, they are probably born with a mental disorder. No one sane does that. Most people, when they become mature, understand that being spanked when they were children was necessary if they were unruly little runts who wouldn't respond to any other punishment.

Guess who's fault this is?
The parents.
They might not have meant too, but at some point, they have screwed up bad if it has come to this.

Yes they would. I'm sorry your parents suck, but that doesn't mean that spanking children makes them insane.

It makes them bad parents at the very least.
