We don't know that for sure. Varimathras' actions were completely out-of-nowhere, with no personal or racial history that would indicate trickery, tomfoolery, betrayal, double-dealing, back-stabbing, mind-control, plotting, scheming, power-grabbing, assassination, world-destroying, pro-Burning Legion sentiment or even simple two-facing.I'm going to need a bloodhound to find your point.
I don't even know who you're responding to.

Like I said. Sylvanas was overconfident. She thought she had control of Varimathras while he was simply manipulating her. So she's at fault for that, but I don't think she was behind the Wrathgate. She was almost killed, in fact.

Right, but overconfident in her abilities to control a demon. She thought that she had the power to control his will, and she didn't.

She might be kinda remembering herself a lil more but IMO she is still got a long way to go to be good. and though sylvanas may not support the cult of the forgotten shadow, a lot of forsaken do and thats not debateable.
The Cult of the Forgotten Shadow is the Forsaken "church" am I right in assuming that?
Because they are by no way evil, and believe every person must have a mastery over light and shadow, despite being forsaken by the light. This could be interpreted to suggest all beings, mainly Forsaken as they follow this ideology, are not inherently evil, but aren't all good either. So saying Forsaken are evil is a bit misleading, they are malicious yes, because they have been twisted by rage and hatred, but what will happen after the Lich King is gone? Will they 'see the light'? Only time will tell I suppose. :)

The Cult isn't evil at all, despite it's name. Lightslayer's are the Cult's Scarlet Crusade.

and much smaller
.
Fixed for my liking. :)
I think it is about maintaining a balance and accepting there is good and evil (or light and shadow) in everything, which is hardly evil, just an interpretation of existance.
If you think about it, if you were in the Forsaken's shoes, and held to the Light's ideology in life, and were raised as a mind controlled scourge, and then broke free, tried to wield the light and it hurt you, how would you feel? You might be inclined to look into other ideologies and faiths.

Selfishness is not evil. Period. The end.
And the CoFS is not evil. It's just the balance against light. Both can be used for good, both can be used for evil. You can make a case for the Forsaken being evil, but the CoFS is not.
Lightslayer are the extremes, like the Scarlet zealots are for the Light.
The Cult is humanist in it's teachings. It teaches that one must master themselves, and then they can master their surroundings. Whether the user uses this power for good or for evil doesn't matter, it's just power to be used as one sees fit. It's like a Mage's fire or frost spells. It's not innately evil or good, but can be used for either.
