Laihendi isn't sure he wants to be bff with you anymore.
I'm not sure it is the best solution, and it is definately not perfect. I realize that. But, I am trying to think of a solution. I wish instead of just disagreeing with me, people would try to build on it, or suggest something better. I am open to new ideas.

You know what you're doing. You should try making this a positive conversation, instead of an arguement.

HIV kills those who are too stupid to use a condom. Its one of those few times I say "Maybe God exists, and he wants to punish dumbasses", though I doubt that hypothesis when I take into account many innocent people were killed by HIV infected blood transfusions.
Not everyone gets AIDS from sex, and condoms (and education about STD's) isn't available in all parts of the world you idiot.
Saw MyTie's above post... woops.

I propose that everyone ignores TheMediator, for this thread.

One thing people have not considered, that IF this were to work, we could prove the concept of the island, and reuse the island whenever a really really bad low communicability virus (like AIDS) popped up. We could effectively lower the virus rate of all humanity forever, and at the same time increase the quality of life for those living with terrible viruses.

This is like that racist joke where all the black people end up on the moon isn't it?
This guy goes on the ignore list with TheMediator
Edit: The internet is famous for desroying potentially good things by trolls. I'm so sick of it. This isn't funny.

This idea wouldn't be fair for those with the disease. As long as they aren't sexually active or getting blood everywhere, then (unless Laihendi is mistaken) they aren't spreading the disease.

Hard to keep track of what everyone with HIV is doing.
I don't think there's a reason to change things up though, we're working towards getting a cure for HIV, people have hope for that, and those with HIV can live out their lives.

Unfotunately, the idea is flawed. It does have a high probability of success though. In order for it to work, it would have to be mandatory. Another problem is, I see old people who can't afford healthcare or proper living, to intentionally contracting AIDS in order to get on the island.

Look, MyTie. This is the deal:
-Forcing all people onto an island because they have a disease is inhumane, even if it would give them a semi-decent life.
But, for the sake of argument, let's say that all of the people in the world with AIDS accept the proposition.
Now, we have the problem of logistics.
1. How would that many people fit on one island?
2. If it weren't AIDS and was instead some much more contageous disease, who would stay there to make sure everyone was ok and taken care of?
3. If we do spend all the money we're spending on research on this island instead, no research will get done.
4. We'd need multiple Islands for different diseases because it wouldn't be cool if someone with one disease suddenly got another disease.
5. There are so many things that we'd be depriving those people of that exist in the world, that they'd never be able to experience on the island. Not even with the billions of dollars that are invested.I agree. But for every arguement against it, there is an arguement for it. There really is no right answer. I just wanted to discuss it as a theory. You have to admit, though, it would probably inevitably rid the world of AIDS.... and that alone is saying something to its credit.

MyTie aren't you all for government staying out of people's lives? If so, then why do you think an international organization should force millions of people to live the rest of their lives on an island?
