imo time is an
allusion
man we all just gotta be man just gotta be what we are man
u cant let the man hold you down with time man
its all an
allusion
man
I assume you mean illusion because:
Allusion: A passing or casual reference; an incidental mention of something, either directly or by implication:
an allusion to Shakespeare.
Illusion: something that deceives by producing a false or misleading impression of reality.

MyTie has notoriously bad spelling.

Is MyTie the same as MyTei?

It's a mystery.

You suck, (no offense, but to go through all that trouble to mock someone is just...stupid and rude). moving on.
"time travel"
isn't some sort of new idea. in fact, seeing the future / past is absolutely possibly.
many forms of buddhist/zen/ and Indian (india / hindi) meditation can take you there.
seeing the future and past is part the path towards what they call "enlightenment"
my 2 cents.
I doubt that that would work.
popetoper said: If we could then transform our body into light particles, we could then send our body over that same light beam and travel as it were back in time. The only problem we have with transforming someone into light particles is that we have no way of reassembling those particles.
You are completely right, we can turn matter into energy (photons) and shoot them (naturally go the speed of light) and bring them to a place, and the only issue is how you reassemble them. I only see this valuable for space travel (have a ship find a planet, build a machine to assemble the object/creature that was disassembled into energy from earth). It is impossible to go the speed of light or faster from what I remember from physics, since I believe you end up with a number over 0, which is undefined, so the energy needed would either be 0 or infinite.
The way around it I believe is becoming the energy, which is possible according to physics matter-energy being interchangeable. You are turned into energy from a place of origin, like earth, and shot to another planet to be reassembled at a planet that already has been colonized from a ship that traveled to there the old fashioned way. I only see it being used for space travel though, since space ships wouldn't be able to go the speed of light, and this would shorten the time, and technically you wouldn't age while being the photons.
The closer you get to the speed of light, the slower time goes. Going faster than the speed of light should in theory send you back in time, but the energy I believe is impossible to get. Photons though, from what I remember from my high school physics book has been turned into protons, so it is possible, this not probable with today’s technology.
Do you realize how difficult that would be? Assuming I understand this correctly, you would have to turn those photons back into basic particles ( Electrons, protons, etc.), then assemble them back into atoms, then assemble these atoms back into molecules, then those back to cells, then finally those back to a human. The way I understand it, you are not just transforming something back, you are making a human being :S. Also, while in "photon form" that human would be practically dead, they wouldn't even be a human. Unless I am mistaken, then this is all meaningless rambling :D.

well ash transportation of a molecule has already occured. We can and have done it. And since it's instantaneous it would seem to travel faster than the speed of light. There has been a molecule successfully "transported" over the distance of several miles, but your point makes sense. It wasn't the same molecule that was transferred, it was simply an "exact clone" that showed up on the other end. Which of courses brings up the point of do humans have souls? If we do then the person that started out on one pad dies when they are transferred into energy and its only an "exact clone" that shows up on the other end, so no one can time travel because to change that person into energy they are destroyed in the process. And far as the conversation of a person achieving (sp?) light speed... it would take an infinite amount of time to achieve terminal velocity of light speed so as to avoid being turned into chunky salsa because of the law of inertia so the possibility of time travel that way is thrown out the window (course the Star Trek inertial dampeners solve this problem lol)
First of all, pics or links please :D :p. Second, yes, if we somehow manage to make that "clone" it will be the exact same person, same memories skill and all. If it lived.

Yeah. "Links please" was what was going through my head as well. The only thing that travels faster than the speed of light (in that medium), that I've ever heard of, is
Čerenkov radiation
.

1) Overhaul seems to have the idea down, in my opinion. The biggest problem in my opinion would be aiming it though. Any suggestions? I'm clueless about this topic.
I'd say he has a good theory. We change mass into light all the time here on earth, and send it in beams. It would be very very easy. You could do it from home. Here's how:
Take a waded up piece of paper. Set it on a mirror. Set up mirrors all around it so the only point of escape were through a narrow top area. Light the paper on fire. There, you just changed mass to light and directed the light. Directing the light is the EASY part. Changing the light back to paper... not so easy. Also, if you wanted to change it all to light, you're going to have to burn it at very high temperatures, so that carbon burns also.

I'd like to add, that if you can reassemble the light into matter, why not just reassemble it into gold... burning paper and getting gold back would turn a nice profit... perhaps you can phazor me a cheeseburger while your at it.... mmmmm... cheeseburger. I wonder if peta could eat meat then, since it didn't come from an animal... Like burn dirt, make a chicken taco... well... you get the picture.

Nope, you oxidize it, turning it to gas and ashes, what's left is light I guess. Also, some of the light might be actually emission from electrons returning to ground state.

Ash... fire is a form of
redox
. All you are describing is the chemical transfer of forms that matter goes through... Choose your poison, it's a one way process. That's all I was saying. The conversion of energy into matter is a horse of a different color.
Edit: And you CAN burn something hot enough so that nothing is left but energy.
Edit Edit: Technically, you can go into a combustion chamber, and have the light off the fire shot to Saturn. Technically, you would be there in energy form. You'd have a little bit of time to figure out how to reassemble yourself once you got there (probably a few minutes, I don't know how far away it is). You might want to take some pain killers before the process though. I hear burning yourself is quite painful.

Will it be possible? ever? I honestly think not, we would mess up a lot of things, and everyone would use it for their own selfish reason (And I wouldn't blame them, to be honest). I think that the best we can hope for is to create an image of past events, just watch, not interfere. Anyway, give me your opinions.
Completely impossible, and I'm too tired to explain why and cannot be arsed to go into detail. There's just too many factors to be overcome.

Ash has a point. It is possible to see back in time, with a powerful enough telescope.
