I leveled a blood elf to 80, then I thought that if I was to make her my new man, I'd have to do all that I already did on my alliance main
again
(which is 100 days /played spent doing almost all that can be done in the game, really not that easy to give up). I got sick at that thought and returned to the alliance.
The day you can change races I'd probably change to tauren or orc though. Female orc or tauren warrior tank > *
I've got many Horde alts and enjoy playing them but I'll never move completely in the Horde.

I tend to stick to alliance on my server mainly because I like to spread wealth throughout my characters. And Heirloom items are awesome.
Of course, I would go to horde, it seems no different than alliance to me. Except Thrall is really the coolest leader ever.

I play as Horde.
The very first character that I started was on Horde, and Undead Warrior, then when I started leveling Alts I realized that I wanted to keep them on the same realm as my main so that if I ever needed gold, I could easily mail it. From then on, I began hating Alliance. When you get ganked/killed by someone from the opposite faction, it really makes you hate the entire faction, which is what makes the PvP servers in WoW go'round. It wouldn't be very fun joining Battle Grounds or Arenas if you didn't have somewhat of a dislike for the other faction, therefore giving you an even bigger goal than just gaining honor from winning, you want to totally whipe out the other faction!
I tried Alliance early on, when my Warrior was around level 30, mainly due to the fact that I really like the looks of the Dwarfs, and the racials of the Human. I first made a Dwarf Paladin, got him to level 12, HATED almost every Alliance player I encountered, quit that character. Made a Human priest on another realm, HATED the Alliance players on that realm twice as badly, and gave a Night Elf Hunter one more chance on yet ANOTHER realm, and ended up running into nothing but immature players. I realized from that point on, my place is with the Horde.
Now I have three level 80's on the same realm, Horde, going on my fourth.
BTW, i'm not saying that Alliance are strictly the immature faction, but EVERYONE'S got to admit, more little kids play as Alliance than they do Horde, it's obvious. I run into immature Horde players now and then, but it was nearly almost all little kids on Alliance, which is where immaturity is at it's worst imo, no offense to the mature younger kids.
Yeah, enjoy that wall of text.

To answer your question I don't just stick to one. I play on the EU-servers.
My first love was Horde, but then in TBC the end game content was really hard to get into as the Arathor server is quite low on the Horde population, so getting into Heroics was a painfully long process and sometimes impossible (LFG totally dead). Had a Shaman and a rogue at 70 before wotlk came out.
During TBC (and after having dinged Shaman and Rogue to 70), I rolled a Alliance Dwarf Warrior and played him to 70 on an RP realm. Ran a BUNCH of heroics and Kara. When Wotlk came out I first leveled a DK to 80. Now DK and Warrior stand at 80.
Now I'm back on my rogue after switching servers to Stormreaver (aka Finnreaver as so many Finnish play on it). I dinged my rogue to 76 yesterday and he is well on his way to 80. It's my first pvp-server experience and with a rogue I must say that I enjoy it :P Some high lelvel tries to gank me... CoS, Vanish + sprint does wonders.
I had no problems on the RP server playing an alliance dude (Argent Dawn, I recommend it), but the other servers I was on with Alliance, it was PAINFUL. Other "fun" things on Alliance side that happen all the time: First wipe = 2-3 people leave party. People looking for an instance only to go there for the first boss and then leave (without telling they wanted only the first boss), "HEAL ME NOOB", "L2P" comments while instancing etc.

I personally just stick to Horde. Mainly because I don't really play Alts at all, so my main is the only character I spend much time on. Also, if I ever do spend a large amount of time on an Alt, I'd make it Horde just so I could help it out with my main (money/item wise).

I play both. Started Ally to play with a mate whose mains are Ally but I fell in love with Horde and that's where my main is. I like having both sides of the lore and sometimes I encounter the same story from different perspectives. Poor
Stanley
, I'm sorry you got poisoned but two days after I saved you from that I had to poison you, so I only have myself to blame for your predicament.
What I like best about playing both is when other players say to me " suck" I can tell them "Then go roll H/A on x server and kill me there because that's what I play on that server". I find it amusing that anyone would restrict themselves to one side of a game and only get one half of the story.
For those who want to kill a gnome DK, I'm rolling one just for that purpose and I look forward to being ganked by you.

Humans have the best racials, imo and that was my first toon. However I always wanted an Undead Lock, and all the kids played the dang NE Rogues/Hunters, so I rolled horde with TBC.
Even though now, we have our fair share of kids playing the other dang elf, I still like horde better. Orc warrior looks the best with any gear, and undead locks are just sweet.
I can never level a pally or druid though, as I hate BElfs and Cow druids.
