Because religion says humans come from nothing. Evolution says humans come from monkeys who come from fish who came from nothing.
oh wait...

All of the theories sound extremely far fetched to me. Why does it matter how the world was made anyway? It wouldn't make a significant difference in our lives if we knew...
That's where you're wrong.
Understanding how life came to be, lets us find out how to create new life. With this knowledge, comes the better knoweldge about DNA, genes and such. It also lets us know more about life in other world's.
There's so many aspects of our lives that are touched by science like this, that you cannot fathom it.

Create new life, eh? Try reproducing.
Knowing how to create life, lets us create life without diseases. Let's us cure cancer, AIDS, and other terminal illnesses. We might even cure age!
I live my life fine without knowing there's an invisible guy in the sky/heaven controlling everything that created everything, or that two balls bashed together and BADDA BANG BADDA BOOM there was earth and that I used to be a fish.
Call me when you get cancer.

Vikey, your concept of the Big Bang is flawed.
It was two things that crashed together to make everything. It was a single entity that just exploded to form everything. Geez

I believe in God. Also,
We might even cure age!
Do you really want to? I thought we were already running out of space on this planet for food and population centers. What happens when no one dies? And after being stuck on this war-torn and strife filled planet for 1000 years, I would get pretty crazy probably, I don't know about you guys . . .

I am one of those people that would want to live forever. Yes, forever. I realize the implacations of never dying (or can imagine, at least), but I do not want to die. There's always something new to experience, and something new to learn.
That said, do I want to cure cancer? Yes. Do I want people to live forever? Most people, yes. I would want poverty ended, war, strife and everything else that takes innocent lives away. I want it gone, removed and forgotten.
With what the human species is, that's hardly possible, but removing the genetic fluctations that cause us to die to ourselvse (cancer!) and similar effects, I see as only a positive effect.
And on the whole population-idea:
Space, the final frontier
.
That's the optimistic side of me.
When I start focusing on all the crap humans can do, I'd wish we just nuked this entire planet and erradicate humanity.

Evolution isn't about life coming from nothing. Read some. Life from nothing is abiogenesis. The theory of evolution simply says that simple things become more complex. The only reason they're lumped together is that evolution is a fact, and abiogenesis is the most logical conclusion of where life originated when we consider the fact that evolution occurs.

Life from nothing? Nothing is nothing, therefore, nothing can come from nothing.
Congratualtions. That argument applies more to the Creationism argument than to the argument for Evolution.
Science poses that all matter in existance has always existed, at least as far back as we can find out. Even before the Big Bang, all matter in the universe was crunched up together into a near-infinitely small space. But all the matter did exist.
Creation poses that "god" just poofed everything into being from nothing. Something from nothing.

Well since evolution has been
scientificly proven
it pretty much debunks creationism. Alot of things, most ridiculous, would have to be true for creationism to have ever stood a chance. One of which is that man had to have lived with the dinosaurs(lol imho). And since you can look at past evidence and track evolution it must exist therefore creationism is wrong. Whoever denies this has set an impossible standard for proof, being that no proof would ever convince them.
What actual scientific proof is there of evolution?
Something purely scientific should be able to be reproduced in a lab. That's never been done.
Every "missing link" I've ever heard of has been proven to be one of three things: species X, species Y, or a hoax. It's never been proven to be species XY.
Practically every "earth crust formation" can be explained by the Flood in Genesis.
Every "mutation" ever observed turned out to be a temporary adaptation or harmful, and all the harmful ones either caused sterility so the genes couldn't be passed on or the genes simply weren't passed on because it wasn't a mutation to the DNA passed on during reproduction.
Give me more ammo and I'll keeping shooting down your evolution theory (Oh, that's right! They still call it the "
Theory
of Evolution")
