Some people arn't druids and have more than one tank set. It was an example, and I dont expect anyone to have 4k static BV, dont get your panties in a twist over it.

Like their good ol' block set?
Edit: Also I wasnt saying that druids have one tank set. I was saying and, as 'as well as' or 'in addition to'.

well, lots of druids carry a normal mitigation set, a stamina stacking set, a high threat set... even if several pieces are the same for them.... (and we could have a "block value set" of sorts by gearing towards crit and ap... ap making our savage defense proc (on crit) absorb more damage :p )
personally my druid always has a tanking dpsing and healing set in his bags... a pvp set in the bank,,, and several odds and ends to swap my tanking set around to other values...
druids ( n pallies) are the ones having to have TONS of gear ><

I can agree with that, and just one spec can call for 4 sets of gear by itself.
EH
Avoidance
Block
TPS
Anyway, the point I was making is that given enough BV, one would rather have it than x amount of dodge. The tradeoff and incounter is upto you.

Highest block attainable in-game
, some of the items are unreasonable for the sake of this argument, and this is meant for burst block rather than static (2 of the tier 8 pieces were squeezed in for the 4 piece bonus, losing ~120 static block value).
Assuming ~155 base strength on a character (unless you're a blood elf at 148), with this gear, you have 1240 strength. Assuming you socket pure strength, you have 1368 strength.
With Divine Strength that goes up to 1573.2 strength.
With Blessing of Kings that goes up to 1730.52 strength.
Divide that by 2 and you have 865.26 block value from strength contribution.
886 from items, and you're at 1751.26 block value.
Redoubt gives you 2276.638 block value with a 30% bonus.
Meta gem gives you 2390.4699 block value with a 5% bonus.
Greatness buff gives you 300 strength, with the same calculations above, 259.00875 block value.
Lavantor's Talisman gives you 440 block value, 600.6 after talents and meta.
Libram of Obstruction gives you another 352 block value, 480.48 after talents and meta.
Tier 8 set gives you 225 block value, 307.125 after talents and meta.
4038 block value for 3 seconds.
Of course, if you gear reasonably, this is unattainable, however, what the hell do I care about reasoning?

Oh right, Gift of the Wild and other buffs would probably give you another 1-2 hundred I suppose.

The only case where you'd trade off dodge for BV would be a boss like loatheb (which is a one of a kind) or for AOE tanking.
For any other hard hitting boss, it's impossible to get that much BV to make a big difference.
If you give an example, give one that's realistic, because otherwise it might confuse people.
The point I was making is that avoidance is not always > BV. There is a trade-off somewhere and I was pointing out its worth.
Blade did the research for me(thanks thats hot). Please stop trolling this thread with petty posts without even doing the research yourself as you are so high and mighty about. if you have a real counter-point to why avoidance is always better than BV no matte rthe values being traded, then go ahead.

v-TLDR-v
4. How Close am i to BlockCap?
This is a more accurite macro of finding how close you are to 102.4%(unhittable-everything is a block or avoided) status.
/run dr=function(x)return 1/(1/16+0.9560/x)end;DEFAULT_CHAT_FRAME:AddMessage("Need 102.4 - Currently at: "..string.format("%.2f", GetDodgeChance()+GetBlockChance()+GetParryChance()+5+dr(floor(GetCombatRatingBonus(CR_DEFENSE_SKILL))*0.04)))
I have seen a lot of people claiming that this macro is wrong. I'm not gonna start and learn all the math behind WoW just to find out if the macro is wrong or not, but I still would like to have a macro to find out my BlockCap and be able to adjust my gear accordingly. So can anyone be kind enough to post an accurate macro or at least tell me if this is good?
My macro is correct. Other calculations do not do what this does. Basically the main difference is that mine "floors" defence. It is generaly accepted (in theory and in practice in game) that Blizzard when they do their defence calculations round down when converting defence rating. Older macros do not round down, thus you get a skewed score, often by 1% or more.
I'd like to know who is saying its wrong, as they often have no valid reasoning for it other than just to be argumentative. If at some point it is found that defence rating is not rounded down after being converted into pure defence, then I will change it, but there has been no mention of that through extensive testing from many players, including the maker of the addon Rating-buster who did the most testing with smiler regards and gave us all the first numbers of the ratings conversions. (like crit rating to crit % at differing levels ect)

HotR hits 3-4(glyphed) mobs, each mob it hits gets one(1) stack of the SoV dot.
