I'm going to bring this up to the top due to the recent DC sniper execution and the Ft Hood massacre guy.
Should we have it or should we not?
My stance is that captiol punishment should NOT exist, because the government doesn't have the right to end someone's life, which is an inaliable right.

I guess... but I'm sure if they really wanted to, they could find someone to do it for $20.
The price on electricity is going up, that's why.

What if someday, they are needed or a mistake has been made?
This sounds like a bad sylvester stallone movie.... In the year 2092, earth is in peril. Ted Bundy's nuclear device is set to destroy the planet, and only Ted Bundy knew the code to stop it. Now... Sylvester Stallone as "Doctor Max FORCE" must go back in time to save Bundy's life. *epic music plays*
rediculous argument is rediculous
Edit: Maybe there could be a love triangle between Sylvester stallone, Ben Afleck, and Liv Tyler. That's what made 'Pearl Harbor' so good.

Two wrongs don't make a right, which is why I don't support the death penalty, If someone has committed a crime, you don't want to just dispose of them, you want to make them suffer, you want them to feel like their are being justly punished for their actions and killing someone doesn't do that.
However, as strange as it sounds, you must be able to kill someone to kill them, people who kill are in a state of mind where they can kill people. For many this is an unachievable state of mind and this attitude will probably never change. This does in a sense mean that people who kill can re-offend. Issuing the death penalty to someone can be better than not doing it and then see the criminal murder innocent people again.

Hmmm.. This debate is lacking the 'deterrance' point. If there were no captial punishment, then would there be less deterrance toward commiting murder? Then, we might argue that life in prison was to harsh. Then we might argue that 50 years is to harsh. Then we might argue that 20, 10, etc etc. Pretty soon in our attempt to be nice to everyone, there is no such things as consequences anymore. In an ironic twist of fate, the loss of life would probably increase, if there were no deterrance. Thoughts?

I'm for Capital Punishment. But only in fair and extreme cases. Example: If you've seen Prison Break you'd know that T-Bag killed and raped something around 10 children/teenagers, and got life in prison. Burrows supposedly killed the brother of the vice president and got the death sentence. It should be the other way around, in fact, Burrows shouldn't get life in prison, more like something around 20-25 years.
Also, there are 2 main ways to execute a person nowadays in the US. I, for one, think it's important for a man to die without suffering, that's why I do not support the electrical chair. I also don't support poison execution, since it costs the government around 180Mil a year, when that money could be used to hire more cops, and reinforce the law. I believe the death sentence should be a bullet to applied to a vital organ; quick, painless, and cheap.

(Ignoring your sarcasm.)You think spending 180Mil, or making poor man suffer in his last moments is better?
