Moonkins need some serious retooling.

I play a moonkin. There are several issues I'd like to see worked out as far as the mechanics of playing a moonkin go.
I have two major gripes:
1.No white damage. All other DPS classes/specs have the ability to do some form of damage when they are OOM. Moonkins do not. The fact that a ranged DPS class has to run up to their target and whack them is ridiculous. And I don't believe the tacked-on mana regen from doing so is worth it. Which brings me to...
2. Horrible mana issues. At level 63 I have 5.8k mana wearing all the +int I can get my hands on. This is quite low for a casting class. Moonkins have the lowest mana of any casting class, in fact. Yes, there are talents in the balance tree which make spells cost less and increase mana regen, but these do little to keep the average moonkin from going OOM more often than any other caster. I quested with a priest the other day and had to sit down and drink nearly twice as often as he, and still got out DPS'd. Perfect example of class unbalance.
This is not simply QQ. I understand that there are several advantages to playing a moonkin. I love my mail-level armor and crit aura, but I can't help feeling shortchanged as far as my DPS and mana go.

Blizzard simply needs to give druids wands already.

1. Warlocks / Mages / Shadowpriests / Elemental shaman are in the same role as a balance druid: caster dps. None of those have white damage. Granted Mages and Shadowpriests wand.
2. Moonkins actually have larger manapools on average than other caster classes, at 70, when in equivalent itemlevel gear. Becomes more of a matter of managing it correctly, using your innervate, using manapots, etc.
If moonkins were any better, what would be the reason to bring a warlock or mage to a raid? Those ones can't shift to pop a heal to save someone, tank trash or innervate a priest that's in need.

See now, this is one of the best statements I've seen in a while. I'm not saying that they shouldn't fix the bugs that are there or do minor tweaks, but some people seem to want their druid to be the best class and tanking, healing, melee AND caster dps. It just don't work that way. We're hybrids, we chose to be hybrids, and thus we're usable in all forms and we're able to save a group or a raid with our shiftability. That's our force, that's our strength and that's what we should be judged on.

I stopped reading right here.
Ironically enough, I stopped reading right here. If you're not going to consider the topic of a thread why post in it?
I've not encountered the type of person who posts like this here on Wowhead until now. The purpose of a forum is discussion. If you aren't willing to consider the opinions of others in a discussion, then you have no business being involved in one. Regardless of my level, I have concerns. I believe I've read and seen enough to make the statements I have. My being level 63 does not take away from the validity of my concerns.
The contributions of others- besides you- in this thread have almost invariably helpful. This elitist higher level-than-thou attitude doesn't help anyone.

and 250-300 spell damage?Honestly, that would be like saying "i've tried feral, i had something like 300 attack power, i wasn't able to kill more than 2 mobs before having to switch out of forms to heal myself".
(i'm just hoping i chose a low enough number for attack power to make my point since I don't know that side well)
Spell damage is our primary stat as casters, and of course you're not going to do well if it's too low.
I'm probably not a good example, since i was raiding before TBC and started with MC/AQ/ZG caster stuff (well, the few that existed at the time). I was around 600 spell damage if i remember correctly, and dropped mobs in 3-4 shots depending on crits.
Feral still is better for levelling, that i'll completely agree with, since you'll drastically reduce your downtime (healing yourself doesn't impact your "dps pool").
