Whether you like it or not, the world
is
evolving, and the technology that's rising up now is a sure sign of it.
The industry will die from piracy, if they don't evolve with the world. It's that simple.
Whether you like it or not, money
is
still needed to purchase things, and the technology that's rising up now, isn't changing that fact.
The industry will die from piracy, if people continue to justify stealing. It's that simple.

Slimda, how old are you? I don't know if you understand the concept that something still exists even if it doesn't have physical form. And stealing that object is still stealing. My age is of no consequence in this debate. But rest assured that I have a steady income from a completely regular job and I've finished my education.
Slimda, your last point is so stupid its not funny. People like you are the why the free rider problem exists "Oh, someone else will pay for it and they'll get money".
There's always people who abuse things. There's no helping it. The simple fact is that if people like it, they're willing to pay for it. The exception is kids who don't have money. They don't care about quality or stuff like that, and simply take what they want.
Give the people a good alternative (iTunes, Steam, Spotify), and people will go there. Spit in your customer's face, and don't be surprised when they leave you.

Or they'll crack down on the pirates much harder.
The simple fact is that if people like it, they're willing to pay for it.
Or they won't. Which is why the problem exists.

Money is needed to buy things? Amazing. The technology that's rising up now, is about offering a
better
alternative to today's ancient system.
The industry willd die from piracy, if people continue to justify stealing. It's that simple.
The industry will die if they live in the old days. I, for one, will not weep at their deaths.

Oh, I'd like to see them try. Alienate your customers even more.

Bunny, you do realize that just about every school out there copies tons of sheet music, but I sincerely doubt they are attacked for it.
But once upon a time they were bought, legally. And I am not trying to shift the topic to sheet music, I was merely trying to point out a flaw in Slimda's definition of stealing and idea that this only includes the rich... which seems to have fallen on deaf ears.
I did make a reply to your statement, which seems to have fallen on deaf ears. ;)

Recent studies have shown that people are willing to part with money when they feel it's justified. Hmm, I wonder how.

CUSTOMERS? You're talking about the people stealing?
You know, I don't really care about file sharing. I actually download things illegally. I'm breaking the law, and ducking morals. The reason I'm argueing with you is that you have the audacity to try to explain these actions as LEGITIMATE. You're not even treading water in this debate, you're sinking like a rock, but you think you're soaring above the waves.

Recent studies also have shown that people are more likely to take something without paying for it than pay for it if they can get the same benefit from it.
Slimda, you don't seem to understand how the world works. Just learn a little before you talk about things.

That's not recent studies. That's general knowledge. People will steal if given the opportunity and a sufficient feeling of safety.
But fans will pay, both for the records, and for other merchandise.

Oh I'm sure. That's why the music industry hasn't been impacted by file sharing... right? right?
Do you have any good arguements? At all?

who stand for their own moral beliefs and occasionally put a kink into the works of certain groups
Other people who did this:
Ted Bundy
Charles Manson
John Wayne Gayce
Otis Toole
etc.
They were certainly pioneers in standing up for thier own beliefs. True heros to the deviant cause.

CUSTOMERS? You're talking about the people stealing?Again, copying. Some of these wouldn't care, so they download. Some of these would want to buy, but can't reach it through regular means (no shop, or shop doesn't have it in store).
You know, I don't really care about file sharing. I actually download things illegally. I'm breaking the law, and ducking morals. The reason I'm argueing with you is that you have the audacity to try to explain these actions as LEGITIMATE. Not every country has a law against downloading copyrighted files. In these countries, said actions aren't illegal. Therefore, they are, in fact, legitimate.

I would say Slimda brings about some good points, and you did too until the insults came about and it became more mud slinging and less actual debate.
I'm glad you're here. With your arguements, you'll receive quite a mental flogging this evening. Stick around, take notes.

If you don't know who anonymous is that's an elite group of hackers (or one sickeningly good hacker)
Actually, Anonymous is exactly what their name says. Anonymous. They're just random people with a goal, usually "lead" by the various *chan imageboards on the net. (be it 4chan, 711chan or something similar). Anonymous could be anyone, even your sister/brother/father.
