A few people have been asking how fast you can expect to level. In Old World areas, you can expect to level about 6 times every 24 hours of
play time
.
As for leveling for grinding vs. questing, I can't comment on which is faster. Try mixing it up: grab a few quests, and complete them AoE style, then compare the XP/hour with that of just grinding, and just questing.

AoE isn't the
only
option available to a Mage, it's just a matter of personal preference. If you like single target more, use it. :D
You may like
this
thread, it's a sticky on alternate ways of leveling.

I had a question, on the talent part for level 20, you have point 11 in
Icy Veins
but for level 21 you say to put that point in "
Improved Blizzard
(2/3)", my question is did you take the point of icy veins and put it in improved blizzard or what, had me confused there...

Is there a good addon for monitoring XP/Hour? I know Titan has a plugin for that, but I;m a FuBar user, and the Fu-Experience plugin is way broken (2.4.x compliant!)
ExperienceFu is compliant, and works fine as long as you have the latest version of fubar.
Someone asked which way is faster? Questing or AOE grinding? It really depends on two things, how much competition you have for the mobs. And how far quests are apart. It really depends on the situation, and how well you're picking up on the ability to pick up grab piles of mobs at once.
I will give one example that really isn't valid anymore. Back before the instance caps(which mages are actually responsible for), I leveled from 52 to 60 in 3ish days by aoe farming the lashers at dire maul. Other people aoe'd the slimes inside Mara hitting 50 in record time as well. Post change, you've got to deal with world mobs, but it can be very quick still.

If you are not sure, just put improved blizzard coz the added slow is always good for blizzard. If i am not wrong, i personally put points into icy vein at lvl23.
ya I looked back on the post about the talents and I misread a part (i think, 24 now sigh lol) man this would go a tad quicker if I did that recruit a friend thing and just AoEed lol

Amazing guide mate! It takes some time to get used to it but after that it works lke a charm :D
On a side note I am looking for a macro for my Ice Block spell, so when i press my Ice Block button once it casts Ice Block and when i press it twice it removes the Ice Block.
Thank you in advance!

This is an awesome guide.
I found a pretty good place to lvl from 30 - 33. the cave Darrow Hill in Hillsbrad Foothills. It is kinda hard since it is inside so there is not much way to run away if you should have a bad pull, it takes some time to get use to it and to know all the pats but once you know it is just awesome since it got super fast respawn and alot of yetis. :)
I also got a wierd Idea when I was bored and waited on a group to run sm armory, To try and solo graveyard. And I must say it was surprisinlgy easy, as long as you stay away from the first boss. Only thing is the second group there is 4 elites and that was kinda hard, I failed 3 times before I made. On the Third group (before the stair) I died beacuse on guy that "ran away in fear" pulled the first boss. Then I quit, going to try it again soon and see how it goes upstairs, should be easy.
I might add I was lvl 34 when I tried this.

Would Glyph of Evocation be good? The 60% health added plus the mana sounds tempting.
Glyph of Evocation would be good, but
not in combat
. You'll be constantly casting while in combat, so there's little chance to fire off a full Evocation. Still, I'd reccomend it if you have some space in your glyphs to reduce downtime in eating and drinking.
On a side note I am looking for a macro for my Ice Block spell, so when i press my Ice Block button once it casts Ice Block and when i press it twice it removes the Ice Block.
Thank you in advance!

/cancelaura Ice Block
/cast Ice Block
Works a charm, although I have the cancelaura on my Frost Nova macro, it's mostly personal preference, but could save you a few seconds.
I think you should add another section tho, which says what quests should be done for their reward. For example, if you can get a good trinket or gear that you would miss otherwise. This is an excellent idea, and I can finally do something with that last reserved post.
I'm helping out at svrive's Paladin AoE guide, so I might steal some items/Mage-usable gear from there. Next stop, quest rewards...

Two things, and don't take either of these the wrong way:
1. We know how fast you can level in the old world already, you've said it a thousand times, but we want to know OL/NR as well.
2. ExperienceFu
is
broken. Believe me, I've tried everything to get it to work, it's broken.
Not too sure about how fast OL/NR are, but should be around the same, perhaps slightly faster.
Have you tried fully updating FuBar? The boffins over at UI & Macro Forum seem to think that should work. Again, I'm not sure, since I don't use FuBar.
