I've checked about Malykriss, tried killing a few mobs there.
They
do
give XP and loot.
1.6k in Xp at 77, to be precise.
Also, I was going to give more information on each location, but my laptop died while editing.

This thread alone made my want to try a Mage inbetween raids and dailies. Thanks a lot =)

3.1 is upcoming soon, so I'll postpone the changes/updates until then.
This isn't an April Fool's joke... o.o

The mobs fear very quickly, so Blink
as soon
as you can.
Thanks for you're feedback. :)
Blink doesn't free you from Fear. At least, not from those mobs in the 54-58 Neutral area you posted.

Fizzles
I know, I'm saying you need to Blink so you don't get hit by Fear in the first place.

do you see 3.1 making any big changes to this?
I just made 21 on my mage and tried the mobs in wetlands. So far I have not made a successful pull.
Mostly its 1 or more resiting my frost nova so just missing with it I blink and run and try again.
I have died on successful frost novas, these seem to be casting bliz and they get to me on the second bliz and everything is on cooldown so I die.
when you freeze the mobs with your frostnova, should your blizard be over the nova'd mobs or in front of them?
I either run out of mana or hit points...both end the same.

yep now all I need is a guide to those heirloom items LOL
I always loved the blues stupidity
Heirlooms' power is equivalent to a blue item of the characters level.
anyone know a level 20 blue item with +58 spell power and +68 to hit ?
I know that heirlooms are bind to account so they can be passed back and forth on alliance and horde chrs?

Quick question. My mage is currently lvl 66 sitting in Orgrimmar getting fat off her own conjured food. Could you possibly show me how to AoE spec her at lvl 66? this would be greatly appreciated.
0/5/52
would be good for 66, taking the good points from Frost, then going into Fire for
Incineration
and
World in Flames
.

3.1 won't have many major changes. Nothing bad yet, according to the patch notes.
Blizzard should be over the frozen mobs, then once the Blizzard is about to wear off, in front of the mobs, as they're walking towards you.
Your gear is quite good for your level. Aside from Blizzard, you should have no problems.

I'll make a guide on the Heriloom items in a later update.
Heirloom items scale to your level, so
Grand Staff of Jordan
will be about the same as your
Emberstone Staff
at level 18, but will be better at level 19.
And no, you can't send Heirlooms from an Alliance char to a Horde char (or vice versa), as you can't mail your opposing faction.
I'll update the FAQ section, and add the guide for Heirlooms when 3.1 rears it ugly head.

fizzles thanks big time for clearing this up for me.
"you can't send Heirlooms from an Alliance char to a Horde char"
3.1 I thought that was next year LOL
guimbabh I have 2 80's on that account and I guess I need to start being social and doing heroics.
I have spent all my time trying different chrs and have not done much with them since they made 80.
My dad has cancer so I spent all Dec Thru March in and out of hospitals and dr offices. was kicked from my guild for non play (thanks anyway) and just about gave up.

It is stickied, it's in
Helpful Threads
thread.
When I was in the Barrens, there didn't seem to be many Windcallers.
I've listed the Wetlands location in the guide. o.o
I tried pulling with and without Fire Ward in Bael Modan. It's not really worth the time/mana.
And welcome to Wowhead. :)

I found an... amazing spot in Icecrown for those of us trying to punch through the 78-80 stretch.
Right about
here
you'll find a stairway leading down to a large bean-shaped area. On the right side (as you're coming down the stairs) there are 3 tents. The middle tent farthest to the right has a named mob that's a rogue. You don't want him.
However, the rest of the mobs here are all melee, and if you do the whole shelf in two pulls, you'll get three things:
1) A TON of xp.
2) Lots of frostweave.
3) Instant.. let me say that again..
instant
repops.
Because of #3, I strongly recommend dragging your group to the bottom of the stairway and then hit your first nova, moving up the stairs to do your casting.
I just tried it on my lunch break, and in about 4 pulls I managed a stack and a half of frostweave cloth and a hair under 60k xp. Please bear in mind that YMMV as I have full rested xp atm and the BoA shoulders with a +10% xp bonus.
But still, I've not found a better place with all melee, great cloth drops and instant repop yet.
Enjoy!
(note: if you're on Stormrage, please share, as I'm going to be here for the next day or so finishing off... don't bite the hand that fed ya :) )
Edit: Also, I tend to go against conventional wisdom and do two things that deviate from standard practices...
1) I DO spec into Frostbite. When it procs from Blizzard and keeps them there longer, that's more damage... for free. You'd want to worry about it if you were using Ice/Frost armor, but...
2) I use Molten Armor. All the time. Extra damage when they tap me, and you can't beat the crit.
I haven't had any major issues with Ice Shield causing Frostbite procs, myself, but that may be because I'm always grinding on higher-level mobs (generally 1 level), but it's not been a concern thus far.

Thanks for your contribution! I'd look into it, but I have to reinstall WoW. ><

I didn't think about this... o.o
I'll add it the guide somewhere. Maybe a guide about Armors, when 3.1 hits.

My pleasure. Lord knows I've gotten more than my share of help from Wowhead :)
As an added note to my above post, I found that spot yesterday on my lunch break. When I got home, I was able to devote (very specifically for a testing period) two hours to nothing but grinding with a couple exceptions:
1) I dinged 79 and ported to Dal to train, then re-hearthed back to Ebon Hold and travelled back to the spot via slow mount.
2) Drinking/rebuffing/a single corpse run.
Some more detail about the area:
The mobs there are all clothies. They cast a flame-breath-type spell that's very short range. Others will cast a toxic-cloud spell that tics per second for about 500 damage. Both are easily avoidable during your nova/setup phase.
I've been able to take (at 78, now 79) groups of about 8-10 at a time. The only time I run into trouble is when I get a random frostbite proc at the
end
of my blizzard and one mob outruns or lags behind the rest.
(It seems I've fallen in love with lists) Here's what I accomplished in two solid hours of grinding in this spot:
I don't have the change, but I ended up with a hair over 600k xp
Between money and green trash drops, I earned about 300g
Two different green world enchanting drops + 1 alchemy drop I couldn't pick up
Enough green drops that I have a stack and a half each of Cosmics and Infinite Dust
Frostweave. LOTS of Frostweave. Granted, I'm a tailor with the skill that (theoretically) bumps the number of Frostweave that drops for me, but I was able to make 85
bolts
of frostweave cloth. 85*5=425 cloth, or 21 and 1/4 stacks.
Hope that gives a bit more detail into what's going on out there.
I was stunned at how fast 78-79 are going. When I started my test phase, I had 330k xp to go to ding 79. After maybe an hour of getting used to my patterns, I was within 130k of 79. That's when I really started my hard test period of two hours. I'm now fully 1/3 through 79, and I anticipate I can hit 80 in one long, or perhaps two short sessions. FuXPFu is telling me that when I'm on a roll, I'm averaging a possible 623k xp per hour. That answers, to me, the question of "Is it possible to grind faster than questing?" The answer is, "Yep! But not very often, and only in specific places." And the quest rewards still outstrip most of what you'll loot except for the rare BoE blues.
Last caveat:
I feel that it's important to say this since I'm giving everyone this spot :) Be nice. There *is* a named mob here, and I believe there may be an Alliance quest that brings people here (probably the "kill X of X + this dude" variety), so if you see someone lower level running around, be nice. Take a drink break, let them do their thing.
</soapbox>
Enjoy.

I really have to recommend to NOT use frost/ice armor for AoE'ing, instead use mage/molten armor. This is to avoid mispulls from slowed mobs who don't make it fast enough into your frost nova.
HEY this is what thru me so much on all my trys and go watch the infrostwetrust(greatest movie ever) when he is pulling in wetlands....it pops up on the screen magearmor....then he is hearding and they are all chilled... of course he could probably do this in his sleep so I don't think it will matter so a pro
BUT I think you are correct in saying that it will help. I have been out of town so I could not do anything until this weekend. I want to get this working sooo bad I can't stand it.
kamodius --I'm averaging a possible 623k xp per hour. if that is unrested it would be a worlds record....GREAT JOB
I remember last nov when I went over and looked at where the first warlock dinged 80 for the worlds record....a 70-80 mage aoe would be cursing for repops..and crying......they are soooo easy to kill but now 0 exp.
