Yeah, Edan- an example would be nice in terms of understanding the question.

I always found it kinda odd when a topic with discussion gets sniped like that, on demand of the OP. Imagine someone starts a discussion in a room full of people, and has the right to yell "EVERYONE SHUT UP" at any point in the discussion, and everyone in the room is obliged to either shut up, or move into a different room. One would say it's all fine when people have the right to just move to a different room, but I don't think that's a good solution. People can get used to reading their couple of topics. Hell, someone could even have it bookmarked. Also, topics with many pages start to feel kinda like an ongoing tradition, and it is nice to have those on the forums. Why do people have the right to shut down a topic that they came up with at any given time. If MyTie said he wants the Bin locked, would it be done?
Exactly as ElhonnaDS says:
The thing with QOTD and DOTD, though, is that it requires someone to keep changing the name of the thread.
I thought that there's unlikely to be a
good
point to close it and allow for someone to make a new one so best to do it quick so that a new thread gets made (if that's what people wanted).
I think it's cool that Gamer made a thread to continue that discussion. I'm actually a little surprised that that didn't happen more often during the life of the debate thread - when a new question was posed but people had more to say about the old one.

Heh though a lot of the debate questions actually have open threads anyways to continue those type of discussions; there is still the 31 page thread on Abortion here on the board as well.

I like how everyone asks what happens to someone when they leave, instead of just reading through their last posts lol.

Well, I missed that...
You can always just manually go to their profile and look at their most recent Forum Replies to see if anything has been said. Just mentioning that option for you to pursue in the future. :)
